Thread: What to stock on vendor
I am having trouble trying to decide what I should keep in stock on my vendor, how many total, how many different colors, and how many in each color.
If anyone has any suggestions it would be great. Things like do I stock all types of pants of just pick 1 or 2 and keep them etc..
Thanks

Black,a fewGreys and a little white.. put a pair of shorts or something up named Email for custom colors, or something along those lines and price it high so no one buys it just to be an ass.
Black and Redhave beenpretty hot colors for dusters the past week.
I try to stock at least one "sample" of every Tailoring item I can make, at least, just so browsers will know they're available (and if they want, say, a Scout Jacket in green instead of the red that's on the vendor, they can let me know.) Jacket and pants "separates", I stock in a bunch of color combinations - the ones I've found look good together. Variety sells, and more important, keeps people coming back. If all you're selling is samples of all the most popular stuff in black, you'll have people come to buy their 133t black outfits - once. Give 'em a reason to maybe come back when they get bored with looking just like everybody else.
And, yes, I *do* stock a lot of basic black, but not exclusively. Several "staple" items, like Black Uniform Boots and black gloves. If all people see is black, all people will buy is black.
Lately, I've created a sales tracking spreadsheet in Excel, keeping track of what sells, and what doesn't. Black Reinforced Jackets, for example, sell and sell often. So I'll stock a bunch of them, and run off a crate of 25 of them in my factory every so often. On the other hand, the Reinforced Jacket in Green with white accents doesn't sell that often, but it *does* sell, so I try to keep one in stock at all times.
And I take the "doesn't sell" info (from those annoying expiration e-mails) and use that data for future decisions. Maybe I'll lower the price, and/or stop making that particular item.
hmm thanks
I have been tracking some of my sales through quicken, but have slacked off lately due to drastic increase. I need to pick it back up because I haven't been tracking colors.
On the other hand I do sell alot of black, but I also sell alot of purple/mauve and yellow items as well.
Any suggestions on which pair of pants to keep stocked. Most people don't seem to care which kind they are they just want a pair of pants. I have been leaning heavily on the striped slacks but wonder if its worth the effort to also offer some of the other kinds as well.
Thanks for the input

But some of the other styles have distinct niches too, so I haven't quite abandoned them. Ribbed Pants, in particular, have an odd niche of matching up with the Rugged Jacket well, for instance.
