Lets say I have a full suit of padded on what socketed tailored items canI wear that would not replace my armour. So far I can only think of Undershirt, well backback also but I have heard problems of getting items into the socket.

and you do know that you don't HAVE to wear all the pieces of a set...heaven forbid you mix and match

You can do a Bandolier instead of Backpack. I'm not sure what else can be worn under. Belt as mentioned but you should probably be wearing a Shield Gen anyway.
