Thread: Tailor Resources
Limited resource harvesting setup withlimited time.
For the grind through artisan find wheat, grind out dough. This only requires oneresource and flora on my server doesn't fluctuate much. (Dom Arts II for dough.) Dough is 20+ experience per and uses 10 wheat. This is a slow grind but easy to maintain one harvester.
For the initial grindthrough tailor I would make Ribbed shirts (30 fiberplast, 30 metal). You will receive about 145+ experience per ribbed shirt. So for one initial skill rank you will need to grind about 220 ribbed shirts. Which is 6600 fiberplast, and 6600 metals for a total of 13200 resources.
I have TONS of fiberplast available at low cost to tailors in the Radiant galaxy. Talk to me (Akita) to arrange delivery

I have decided to puruse tailoring and was wondering if I could ahve a few questions answered.
I have about 100k available and would like to go ahead and purchase harvestors to begin stockpiling resources I will need as a tailor.
What are the coomon resources used by tailors?
Could any tailor make any reccomendations on how many harvestors and what types are good to keep a steady flow of Tailor resources?
Thank you,
Phundi
Fiberplast, fiberplast, and more fiberplast.
Did I mention fiberplast.
I can easily blow through a 3k stack in an hour. I run 2-3 small harvesters and can not keep up with my demand. I am transitioning to medium harvesters (where I plan to run 1 meidum, 3 small atm until I can afford another medium). 1 of my small harvesters will run polymer. I also run 1 mineral to pull metal, but I can also get metal from my spouse's harvesters.
so you will need (depending on the lines your working on)
Metal (steel, alum, copper doesn't really matter unless its for some special items)
Hides
Bones
Fiberplast
Polymer
Gemstones
Oh and you will need power to run all your harvesters.
So starting out with no store and just planning to grind, I would run 2-3 wind generators, 2 mineral, 5-6 chemical. You usually need to run more wind generators because the wind plots are so horrible in most places.
Once you get a house/factory, it almost means you need to move to mediums because of the lack of plots. My setup will soon be medium house, factory, wind, solor, 3 chemical, 1 mineral, 1 med chemical for my 10 lots. My wind will go to the wayside as my solar kicks in and be replaced with propably a med mineral.
I gather my own hides and bones (I have scout as well) as well as my spouse (creature handler) collecting them in large quantites for me.

Next is probably Inert Petrochemical. While a lot of schematics call for just any old IP, a good many specifically require Polymers. Since Polymers tend to be plentiful, there's no real reason to mess around with non-Polymer IPs.
Next, you'll use a fair amount of metal (for the vast majority of things, any metal will do, though jewelry and a few other things specifically need steel) and a fair amount of hides.
Personally, I probably go a bit on the light side for my resource gathering infrastructure.
1. For the chems, I have two Chem Harvesters - one Fiberplast, one Polymer. This usually gives me about all the Fiberplast I need (but little surplus), but significant surplus of Polymer, so I usually sell a stack or two of 1000 units for 3000 credits on the bazaar every day or so.
2. For metals, I used to survey my own, but now generally just buy on the open market. As you advance, you seem to need more metal than previously (I think it's mainly lots of stuff requiring Metal Fasteners.) I'm vaguely pondering getting a metal harvester, but for now, just buying the stuff is more convenient.
3. For hides, I do a little bit of hunting (more for fun than hides per se), but mostly buy from my customers, who I encourage to offer hides on my vendor.
I think that's about it, except that you'll need to keep your harvesters supplied with energy. For that, I've been buying energy from a friend (at a discount, but she's happy to have the steady income stream.)
I don't have a problem with hides/bones as I already harvest my own.
I will go ahead and purchase 2 medium chemical harvestors and 1 medium mineral harvestor. I already have a solar genrator, if it appears that I need more power then I'll pick up another.
My plan is to grind out exp using practice and sell off extra resources for funds if needed which is why I decided to go with medium harvestors right off the bat.
Thanks,
Phundi
If you plan to be a grinder rather than a working tailor, you can get by with nothing but metal and fiberplast to make ribbed shirts.
I don't advocate grinding as your sole occupation, but it does seem a reasonable use of your downtime if you find yourself waiting for shuttles or healing a great deal.
I can't condemn that. I tried doing the straight working tailor thing, but I still find myself grinding throught the slow parts.
Good luck!
