I just got Master Artisan on Tempest and will be pursuing the Tailoring profession. I've done hundred's of chemical survey tools and I'm getting really sick of them, heh. What, in your opinion, is the best way for me to get that 19k crafting so I can Novice Tailor? Thanks in advance!

I just need to grind to Novice Tailor, then I'm going to somehow find 20k for a small house (Tempest Architects are charging that much, bleh) and open up shop, taking orders and hand-gathering resources to make them. I want quality over quantity and I don't care if it takes me months to reach master tailor. I want a strong client relationship and good reputation.

Good luck getting that without the schematics people want.

That's kind of pessimistic! I got a house and a vendor once I made novice tailor, and by stocking simple basics such as shirts, pants, boots, and gloves (mostly in black, white, grey, and blue) I was able to advance up the Casual Wear tree. True it's been at a relatively slow pace, butthe poster has already said they care more about quality than speed.

And I bet that you'll be able to find a small house for less, I bought one about a week after release on Radiant for only 10k. Good luck!

"I can't make anything people want until I reach X" is a really self-defeating attitude. Now, I'll grant that it may be true for a lot of professions (like the Droid Engineers who have to make hundreds of useless Mouse Droids - that sounds bad.) But we tailors (and, yes, even Artisans who have gotten up to, say, Domestic Arts III) have a ton of options, and can make lots of sellable stuff. Once I got through the tough sledding of early Artisan days, I've made money at every level, with no grinding needed.

For example, gloves and boots are perennial big sellers for me. And in all honesty, there ain't all *that* much difference between Hide Boots and Leather Gloves vs. Uniform Boots and Leather Work Gloves. And there are some really nice-looking schematics too - for example, Shortsleeve Jacket is a nice item that I'd probably still be making and selling if it got me Tailoring XP. I don't really have any close Tailoring substitute for it.

Also, I've discovered that the working Artisan-tailor can find a nice little niche market that we lower-level tailors can't really fill - socketed items. We get, like, zero socketed Tailored stuff until Tailoring II (and nobody's gonna go for Tailoring II before getting a bunch of other Tailoring boxes.) But I have a lot of people asking for socketed stuff lately. I *can* make those things easily using the Artisan schematics, but that's a dead-end for me XP-wise, as I no longer have any real need for Generic Crafting XP.

So that should be a nice little market for Artisans working their way up to Tailor - make lots of boots, gloves, jackets, etc. with sockets!
