Frankly I'm sick of the bazaar, a million mindless wannabie able to chuck on any old thing for the cost of 20cr limited to only a 3,000cr cap / item and 25 items on sale at one time.

Its bad enough with mob dropped clothing loot being all over them without all the other drell all over it.

I feel that the bazaar should be the selling place of last resort and instead people should be encouraged to sell their products through stores, either their own or a merchants.

Now I have been putting up 25 items in my home town bazaar directing people to my store and doing a roaring trade (so much so that I spend 3 hours each day restocking the vendors) but I'm getting kinda mifted about trooping back to town to stick up more ads.

Personally what I would like to see (apart from no mob dropped tailor clothes and decay added to clothing) is a even lower cap on the bazaar, higher fees or reduced number of items that can be listed.

Examples -

  • Cap of 500cr price on bazaar (Not my favourite but it would be effective)

  • 100 cr listing fee reducing down to 50cr and 20cr at the approriate merchant bonuses.

  • 5 item limit, expanding perhalps through the Merchant tree from 10-25 at various tiers. (+5 items per tier of efficentcy?)

I'm sure I'll get flamed by all the bazaar tailors who don't want to run shops but its my thoughts.

The problem is it's not just tailors who use bazaar. Listing food or stimpacks at 100 credits per (this was brought up by the dev's in beta btw and they're lucky the chefs and medics let them escape with their lives) is pointless. It also encourages grinding through the lower levels because not much in the artisan tree is worth listing at that rate, and forcing every artisan to hawk on the street gets them on more ignore lists than it earns them business. The 500 credit cap means you'd be buying your resources in stacks of 10 or less. Reducing the item limit might help, but again, people are trying to make a living in other fields with items of much lower value. Combined with you lower value cap, people would be selling resources 50 at a time, and having to spend hours just restocking bazaar to actually make any money.

We need decay, especially on the dropped items starting out at 300/1000 to begin with. Ideally we need vendor sales to show up on bazaar. They did in beta, they don't now, and I still haven't heard a straight answer on if this is intended or not.

right now, why my shop is early stages of business, the bazaar keeps food in my mouth. I don't just throw crap on there though. I put nice stuff, and it generally isn't cheap. Most of it sells, because I know people want nice clothes and don't know where my shop is yet.

Wow, condescending much? Just because someone is a Tailor doesn't mean they should be forced into the Merchant/Shop Owner route that most of us take. ATailor who chooses to wander the galaxy craftingon demand for customers and for the bazaars is no less valid a thing to do with our profession than putting down roots and having a great shop. I do have a shop, but my house is buggy and for some reason my vendor refuses to let me list any more than 32 items. So right now it's impossible for me to make a living off my vendor. Sure, I could sit in my house at all times and do nothing but craft for customers, but I also like wandering around. So the bazaar and face-to-face sales in town are my main source of income.

I'm not listing things on the bazaar for any less than I'd sell them in person or on my vendor. Since I'm not a master tailor yet I don't have anything that I'd charge that high for. I think your problem is with people selling high level loot for low prices, and with tailors that dump cheap crap in the bazaar. Why change the bazaar for those of us who use it responsibly? I never worry about people selling looted clothes. Most of it is in horrible colors. But if I see some nice looted jacket ina decent color, I just buy it myself and re-list it for a good price. And I don't worry about taliors dumping cheap items, because my items sell almost faster than I can restock them anyway.

On the contrary, I sell for more on the bazaar than I do in person; folks who've taken the trouble to track me down generally get a freebie tossed into their suit of clothes, or a discount -- or some sort of incentive. My bazaar items (and I use the bazaar exclusively at this point, while saving up the last few cr for vendor and shop) simply sell 'as is'.

I really think these sorts of limitations would hurt the profession more than it would help; for that matter, I shudder for aspiring weaponsmiths who are making powerups (the only thing you can really sellon before actually reaching the profession) -- this notion would absolutely destroy their capacity to make those little 100cr sales that help to keep them going through those first tiers.

Of course, as someone else had said, this would severely limit the 'just passing through town' market, not to mention the possibility of moving one's merchandise to towns that are lacking in it -- and the latter isn't good for *anyone*.

The Bazaar is your friend, no matter what sort of tailor you are. Disregard the bazaar sales of high-level tailored loot drops (important, but a whole 'nother issue), and I don't think there's a lot to worry about.

I do tend to think the tailor with merchant shop is by far the best way to succeed, but I've heard enough stories to see that other paths work too. In any of them, Bazaar helps you much more than it hurts. For me, bazaar sales are both an introduction to my goods and to my shop, as well as a convenience to some long-time customers.

And if you *don't* have a shop, I think Bazaar is probably even more important as a way to make sales when you're not actually online and actively selling.

I love the Bazaar...! I wouldn't change one thing about it, except for the slow loading times and poor performance...

But why would I want to flame you...? I don't mind that your playstyle is different than mine and would NEVER try to dictate to you how you should play... All I ask for is the same courtesy, if you get my drift...

Right now the bazaar is about my only income source from tailoring. I have neither the credits nor the inclination to run a vendor and when I’m online there are too few people on my planet to make any significant person-to-person sales. Without the bazaar I would have hardly any sales at all.

A far better change, in my mind, would be to disallow sales on the bazaar that aren’t player-made items. That way you don’t have any joe-shmoe who looted an item post it on the bazaar for an arbitrary price. Then you only have to deal with tailors listing items below what you think is a fair price (which, of course, is a very subjective thing).

In short, a resounding NO to your proposed changes. I don’t want to be forced to use a vendor.

I don't understand this post. If you don't like the bazaar, don't use it. In your post you say it should be a selling place of last resort, yet it doesn't sound like you practice what you preach. Use your own vendor and then you don't have to worry about the bazaar.

I favor raising the price cap on the bazaar to 5-10k, to encourage people to list items at a more realistic price (no more 3k small house deeds).

The best way to encourage people to utilize player vendors would be to list vendor merchandise on the standard bazaar and provide delivery (perhaps for an additional fee) to the customer's location. I know some people love foot traffic and socializing, but that will come with player cities.

Put that in place and we might not need any artificial price cap on the bazaar at all. The 25 item limit is quite restrictive enough.
