Thread: Can someone explain to me sockets?
Hi,
I'm a relatively new tailor and I keep on hearing about sockets. Now, I've looked up the threads in this forum pertaining to sockets, but I'm still a little confused. Can anyone help me by answering a few questions? Or perhaps point me to a link to a page that would give me a good overview on the subject?
My questions are as follows:
1) I know that socketed clothing is denoted by a yellow title, but how do you know how many sockets are available? (I'm sure the answer is right under my nose)
2) Is it luck, skill, or the right combination of resources that makes socketed clothing to a certain specification? (I have seen people say it's all three, but I'd like to hear more about it)
3) And can bioengineers make enhancements for clothing or is that something else entirely?
Thank you for your help.

1. Use the "examine" on the radial menu, it will tel you how many sockets an item has. Or if you are crafting it it will tell you just after you create it, but before experimentation.
2. Yes
3. Yes
the powerups that work with clothing look like little rolls of tape (i.e. trim)
the bone segment ones are probably meant to work with armor but armor sockets are currently not working...
you apply the roll of tape ones the same way you powerup a wpn -- then the effect shows on the item of clothing
bioengineered components are built into the synth or reinforced cloth -- and currently bioengineers can't make the stuff in factories so you are limited to adding them to items requiringnon-factory synth cloth
