Thread: Sockets and Tailoring I

I have a quick question for my fellow Tailors:

In order to make tailor-level (not the domestic arts stuff) clothing with "sockets" do you need Tailoring I: Experimentation? At Novice Tailor with Field Wear I, I don't think I have ever made a socketed item but I'm not 100% sure.

I've searched the threads on this board and couldn't find a definitive answer.

Thank you,

Vorin

I have tailoring 1 and I still dont get any sockets. I was told that as soon as you get Tailoring 2, you will be hard pressed to make something withOUT a socket =D

Thank you - that's all I needed to know. I also saw another thread that I must have missed that talks about this very issue.

I started getting sockets at tailoring 2.

Same ... got sockets at Tailor 2 (which I am at now). The frequency for sockets seems to be 50-75% of the items I make have 1-2 sockets.

By the time you get to experimentation IV, everything you make has 2-4 sockets, except for jewelry, it seems. I haven't done a systematic check of this, but that seems to be how it works.

Yeah, at master, almost everything I make has 4 sockets.

I have Tailoring I, and I have gotten the odd socketed tailored item. They are few and far between, however. I have gotten them almost exclusively on rugged jackets, but I have gotten them on other items as well.

I think the only reason Rugged Jackets get sockets is that they're bugged. Earlier in Beta, the Rugged Jacket was a Domestic Arts item, and I believe it still has the experimentation and socketing you'd get if it *was* a DA item.

It seems to me that the "socketing" skill needs to be spread out a little, so that there's some chance of it happening with Tailoring I, and maybe a bit less automatic at Tailoring II. As is, Tailoring I has a pretty minuscule payoff. One really nice red color, and that's about it....

FYI - I am just at Domestic Arts 3 and I have managed to make three socketed items so far.

Sure Jam, on artisan level clothing. Any of the Novicetailors on this thread can make artisan level items with up to 4 sockets in it.

These tailors are talking about Tailor level clothing.

Hmmm, sorry for my ignorance, but what is a socket? I only just now became a tailor, so im still learning alot of things.

Does sockets have anything to do with making clothes that have protective abilities? Becasue im realy interested in those =)

But anyhow, thanks if you can help with my questions...
