Thread: How important do you think the Tailor Schematics are?

Just wondering how important you other Tailors out there think the tailor Schematics are to the Tailor Schematics are to the Tailors? Say for instance Synthetic Cloth, Reinforced Fiberplast Panels etc? We know that these were given us to make other classes like armorsmith co-dependant on us so that they could not just become a Master without either getting these items from us or going the Tailor route as well.

So we either sell them the Panels they need or sell them the schematics they need so they can run them in their factories. I've hear all kinds of prices for the schematics, 50k, 30k, 20k etc, I've also heard different prices for crates of the panels 7k, 5k etc?

What would you think would happen if someone on a server who was a Master Tailor started Making these Schematics and GIVING THEM AWAY FOR FREE for the asking? What do you think would happen to the Tailor Profession then? What do you think should happen to that Master Tailor, if anything? What could be done about this? What could or should this be considered, Griefing, Kindness, insanity, lack of class, trying to ruin the Tailor class as a whole?

Looking for some feedback for now, more information to follow in the near future.

My reply is simple: Find thesob andkill him or her! I think it's Griefing, not as much as following someone around and taking all of their kills or calling them names, but Griefing just the same.

I am surprised that no one else has taken the time to respond to this, looks like a mighty serious issue to me?

Yeah, if they know how dependant lower level tailors are on selling cratesof synth and reinforced panels that sounds like they're being a total jerk. That's just not nice. But you can't really do anything about it unless they agree to duel you.

I don't think it's cool at all to do. At the same time there is not much that can be done with it besides try to deal. =/

This person is eliminating the need for Tailors.

Yes I would find this really irritating, not "cool" to do. It is not a huge effect on higher level tailors but it is awful for a novice just starting out. Cloth is often a big part of their business. Fortunately you need to have the *exact* same resource as the schematic used or you can't run it. So if you get a schematic with Jide Polymer for example, you need Jide Polymer. No other kind will work. So unless someone is giving away a lot of resources with the schematic, they recipient may have trouble using it.

I don't see this as any better than kill stealing though, it's about the same thing, just for a different profession. Seems like the really annoying people that do stuff like this never agree to duels either

This type of behavior is another one of those things I read about and just wonder -- what is the point? Does this person actually think this is fun? They are probably the same annoying little punks in RL...

It's very easy. If you can VERIFY that a tailor is giving away schematics, go find them, see what they are selling, and give them away for FREE. They'll hopefully get the point before you have to get nasty.

Most of the time though it's just the buyer that is trying to take advantage of you "Yeah, I got this from so-and-so for only 1K". I don't waste my time explaining anymore because most people doing this are trying to do some type of very poor haggling. I just say "Okay, buy from so-and-so. Bye now." That's why I say verify. The buyer may just be using some poor tailor's name.

Well they must be charging something, I've only been able to trade schems through the bazaar. Customers tend to bring their own materials so they know they can meet the schematics requirements.

Im a master Tailor on Eclipse and I only sell schem's and crates if people beg me

I frankly dont have time to make that kind of stuff usually

I'll put reinforced panels on my vendor for 3500 a crate and synth for 2500

if i make a schematic for fiber panels for someone we cooridnate resources and I sell for 3500 per 100, if they want 5 schems of 100 or 1 schem of 500

I have one guy that lives next door to me who pays me 5000 per crate if i always keep some on my vendor for him

the only time I give them away is to a friend of mine.

It makes me cringe when I hear of people giving stuff away to everyone or WAY undercutting other tailors, so hurtful to the profession.

and yeah, I have people telling me they got this and that free, or so and so sells it for 3k less, I say wow thats great for you! too bad I can't afford to sell it that cheap

heh

Alright, I'll bite (he said stepping into the previously established venomous feelings)

It takes no effort to make the schematics so why shouldn't I sell them cheap?

They are not , for me, any part of my tailoring business. I make my money ..GASP .. selling clothes.

I can't yet see any reason to circle the wagons and charge ludicrously high prices for something because we can.

2-3k for a crate of synth cloth and 3-5k for a crate of Reinforced Fiberplast is not ludicrously high, Its actually a pretty fair price IMHO. I'm also an Armorsmith, I use 9 units of Reinforced fiberplast panels (they don't have to be from a factory either) to make a full suit of chitin. I sell those suits for 18-25k depending on the quality.

I think the only thing I ever gave away for free was Ribbed Shirts................haha.

Hehe, guess I need to lower the prices on my crates. I'm selling Synth for 5K and Reinf Fiber for 7500 . I thought it was high until armorsmiths would gloat about making back the costs of 5 crates with one suit of armor and then would say they would be making half a million creds a day. Sorry if I want to actually make some profit on what I sell.

Here's a wake-up call for all of you that are too 'good' to sell components: Clothing doesn't degrade. The components are return income. Clothing ISN'T. Sure you will get those few that do enjoy changing outfits, but once someone has their special outfit outfitted with Skill-Enhancing Attachments, I doubt they'll want a fresh one with no SEAs. Let's see how much pride you have in a few months when everyone has their clothing if the degradation is not turned on in game.
