heya, I've noticed that selling female entertainer clothing has basically become a lost cause for me as there are at least two master tailors on my sever (valcyn).However, when it comes to the usual boots, pants, shirt, jacket sales, I can definitely compete with masters. I have Casual III so I can totally deck out the non-entertainer men and women out there.

My question/whine is, with the exception of bustiers, why put all the good entertainer clothes as Master level items? I enjoy helping out the entertainers with their clothing needs, but almost every request I get from them now are things I cannot make.

See if any of the master tailors would be willing to "out-source" the non-master parts of their orders to YOU to fill.

I know somedaysI'd kill for an "apprentice" to help me fill orders.

I am having a lot of toruble with this too.. AS the world becomes more saturated with the master stuff... and more people have SEEN it, I am having more and more trouble selling anything.

Luckily there are a lot fo people in my town, and they are my friends, so they will take my clothes with a happy grin even though they could probably get something cooler somewhere else.

That is the only thing saving me from depression ^_^

This is exactly why I abandoned my idea of leveling in Casual wear first when I started tailoring. Some PAs had master tailors pumping out lots of high end items to entertainers leaving me in the cold.

So I went the Uniform Marshal route and have done well. Folks are always wanting bounty hunter backpacks, Dusters, camos, uniform boots, etc. Heh ... I literally have uniform boots sell as I am placing them on the Bazaar

I am not having a hard time competeing against the master tailors. Many entertainers and non entertainer folks want a variety of outfits, not just the master lines.

I sell the bustiers and hot pants to entertainers, but also fashionably pleated skirts, pleated skirts, simple vests, jewelry, dress slippers,shorts, short skirts, jackets, etc.. so they have a variety of clothing depending on their mood and clientle.

On of the things that I have found to be the most important in decision making for my customers have been my displays. I do my displays in a variety of colors (the richer the color the better) and add accessories. So instead of something like a muscle shirt with pants/hotpants I also add the simple vest. Instead of shirt and pants, I add a jacket, instead of just a cloaked dress, I add an emerald pendant to the display. It gives the customer another idea on how the item could be used.

I also keep up a ton of displays, to the point my house is usually full, but they are more then usefull in helping my customers mix and match, compare colors etc..

Well, we only have one master tailor, so it may not be exacty the same, but I find that keeping my vendors as well stocked as possible with a broad selection brings people in. Also once the novelty wears off, I think people will find they can look better with many of the lower level things.

Well, its probably no comfort in the short term, but I've already noticed trends coming and going in people's clothing tastes. Once all the entertainers have their fleshwraps and leotards, I think we'll see people start looking for more interesting and less "trendy" items.

One of the best things you can do to convince people they don't need that master tailor item is to look great in what YOU'RE wearing. If you look great, people will notice and want to look like you, instead of looking like everyone else.

I believe my first post was a little unclear, let me clarify a bit. What I meant to say is I cannot compete with the masters when it comes to female entertainer clothing, however I can compete in all other fields.

The reason I can't compete with the masters for female entertainer clothing is not due to pricing or shop display, it's due to the fact that I simply cannot make the items that my entertainer customers ask for. Nor can I offer serious alternatives (other than the usual bustier / skirt / hot pants combos, which they all have by now). In all other arenas, I can either sell what the customer wants or offer the Casual Wear alternative to what they're looking for. (Want a duster? Here try on this cloak for free, I think you'll like it...)

Note that I don't think there is an easy fix to this problem (unless becoming master tailor is considered easy). I'm just whining about the way things are, and was interested to see if anyone else would whine with me =)

My wife is unfaithful to me.

She's a dancer, you see, and previously with each new skill box I would make her wonderous new outfits that she would open with glee and twirl about the cantina in.

But then the powergamers came, with their slick city flesh wraps and bikinis. My love tried to stay faithful, she really did, but in the end she couldn't resist the silky lure of the decadant masters.

So I sit and watch her twirl in another tailor's creations, as I grind slowly and silently towards my revenge...

"Why officer, that Constrictor Cloth must have been, you know, a critical failure! What a freak accident!"

Maybe i'm just a nice guy, dunno. I don't make much stuff, as i worked too much, but when i get requests for boots and gloves and stuff, I send them to other tailors. I usually just make master tailor stuff, and then packs/dusters because they are good money. I hope people realize that you may be rolling in money which is good, but other tailors need business too. When people ask for black uniform boots, send them to a starting tailor, they'll love the business.

I know when I started I made my niche asthe first casual 4 tailor on Tarquinas but I really didn't get repeat customers until I got tailoring IV when people got alot of choices on color. I would recommendstarting any of the 3 lines, field, casualor formal, then go directly to casualIV, it will help you get a line of clothing made as good as anymasters. Also I do recommend getting to know some ofthe master tailors, especially if you are quite a ways behind, as one post said, outsourcing is really a way to go for some masters who are so busy. So get to know some of them! Some of them would be more than glad to give you a share of the profits to help them with their load of work.

Below tier 3, the bazaar was my friend, going from tier 3, running around with the Novice Tailor tag and fancy clothes from the branch did the job.
