A question for those of you who have worked your way up the Tailoring branch. I get many requests for clothes that are Black, not dark grey, really Black. I createda Simple Vest for myself that I wanted to be Black. This item especially comes out dark grey. As you progress up, do you get any Blacker colors, or is it just a product of how the artists decided to shade things, and I'll have to live with it. It's frustrating when my black vest, black pants, and black boots are all different shades of black.

Also remember that the color you see on your screen is not the color others see.

Unless you color balanced and color calibrated your monitor, you're wasting your time trying to get an exact shade. I spent too much time photoediting images for magazines and brochures to trust a stock monitor that has not been tweaked.

The black that you get is as black as it gets for now. What turns colors to a another shade or hue is the type of material that's used. Take the Rugged Jacket for example. The material is darker and has a nice, smooth leather appearance and colors tend to show up true or just lightly darker. Items like undershirts, swoop helms, hide boots, etc. have a more rough leather appearance like suede and colors tend to show up lighter. You basically just have to learn which items alter color. I tend to stick with the smooth leather items when I need to match colors accurately. Rugged Jackets, Uniform Boots, Ribbed Pants, Cold Weather Jacket, Crafters Pants....

The fabric determines how "black" black will be. Some items like the Suit Jacket are a very deep black. Others like Formal Shirts are a dark green black while others like the Simple Vest are the dark grey.

I've yet to find a shirt or pants that are true black.

As a graphic artist, I have a calibrated monitor. It does depend on how you have it set up. When set up correctly, some of the lowbie clothes ARE NOT true black. Your customers are correct. Some are a darkcharcoal.
