Thread: Just Starting Out Concerns
My first month of playing SWG, I spent 90% of my time dancing inthe cantina until I made master. During that time, I decided that once I hit master I would start working as a tailor as well. All the tailors on my server seem to be on Naboo. I am on Tat. A few good master tailors have shown up on Tat, but then mostof those haved moved to Naboo.
Anyway, I thought it woud be fun and I have started my way up the artisan domestic arts skill tree.
But my concern is that all the stuff I am making, is selling for cheap on the bazaar. I think many people must be selling their used items or something. When I price my stuff atthis point, I am pricing by buywer demand. I can't sell a pair of casual shoes for 150 if everyone else is selling it for 50 or less.
I'm just wondering if it will get better? Or if by the time I hit novice and higher, everyone will be selling all that stuff for cheap on the bazaar. I'm trying not to get discouraged.
I used my tip savings and bought a few harvesters that have been giving me lots of fiberplast, polymer and steel. I save about a third of what I get a day and sell the rest on the bazaar. I don't need muchatthis point since I amgoing at a steady pace and not grinding. I want to take my time with this and not rush it.
Any advice? Anyone else notice this sort of thing happening?
Oh, another question, eventually I will want to get some sort of vendor for my home. Which business skills do I need for that? I am trying to figure out all my skill points and how to distribute them around.
Thanks everyone.
I think I've sold maybe 10 items total on the bazaar and 6 of those were Spec-Ops packs. I completely ignored it, never advertised on it and I'm still swamped. ![]()
Word of mouth will do way more for you than the bazaar ever will. ![]()
The problem at Domestic Arts level is that you don't get a bright anything; it's all mud until you get higher up the branch.
That said, I have noticed that medium grays do fairly well, presumably amongst Imperial players.
Don't worry too much about your prices either. Most players don't care about a few hundred credits, at least not enough to search through several pages of listings. Just find something that sells well in your area, and a price that you feel comfortable with, and sell it. On the bazaar I do mostly black clothes, but I have more colorful ones at home on the vendor.
You need Business III to place a vendor, and the better vendor types require Selective Hiring from the Merchant line.
Market conditions are a little rocky to start off these days, but if your resources sell well, you can afford to hang in there. Note and respond to local market conditions - if there are no pants for sale in your city, you might do pretty well with basic black casual pants. If you keep your eyes open, you can find niches to fill even in a crowded market.
Good luck!
Thank you for the advice! Looks like I will be able to get those business skills without releasing anything I already have.
I have noticed that my best selling items are anything in black or white. Sometimes I can sell pink.
I wish the bazaar was more like ebay. If I want to buy shorts, I should be able to search it and not scroll through so many other items just to find them. All the other sections on the bazaar are catagorized, why not clothes? Hmmm...
Happy crafting!

when you selling stuff from the Bazzar make them a different color....I know personally If I saw casual shoes for 100 bucks that were brown and I saw a blueish/green color shoes for 200 I would buy the blue color cause I like it more than brown...I even buy it for 500..

Correct this by adding the color to the name so that people can see
what it is.
The Market is a starting point.. when you get the sale notification,
shoot a business card to the person who bought it with a waypoint to
your shop.. something short... even thank them for choosing your stuff...
Add in a line I can now make 'XXX' if you just made a new level and have expanded what you can make...
You'll be surprised at how much repeat business you'll get when people think
you're a nice person.. they'll find your shop and browse your vendor..
Even if they NEVER come back, they'll tell OTHERs to look you up..
