Thread: Suggestion: 'Customer Color Selection' button
What colors can you make a (insert clothing item name here)?
I'd like it to be purpleish-greenish-blue. Know what I mean?
Ever hear these kinds of color-related questions? My suggestion to the endless frustration of customer color selection: allow the customer to visually choose his own colors!
During the crafting process, at the color selection step, a button would allow you to transfer the selection screen to your target. They, then, could view and select the colors themselves. Then, the crafting process would be returned to the tailor to finish.
What do you all think? Devs? Tailors?

Or,at least, a 'preview window'. Similar to that of an image designer. It would show the tailor's color choices to the customer, prior to the final step of crafting.

But what about allowing tailors to change the color of clothes after they've been made? Any clothes, even the ones they didn't craft. Sort of like image design only for clothing. It would help alleviate some of the problems with the lack of clothing decay and it would make it much easier to coordinate outfits and make sure the colors really are the ones the customer wants.
hmm I think this idea is bad mainly for 1 reason:
It has a reductionistic perspective on the tailor profession. In short this means that the tailors will be nothing more than superior crafting station, and I doubt anybody would really want that (at least Tailors!).
The thing that facinates me about the interaction between the tailor and the costumer is the fact that the costumer has to place his or her trust in the good taste of the tailor. And this same aspect is what makes a costumer pick what tailor suits his or her needs the most. Of course the blame easily is pinned on the tailor when there is a bad match, but when the match is perfect, all the honor is directed to the Tailor.
Another downside to this idea is that the only thingthat will separate the tailors is level only, as the costumer can freely pick outfits and colors IF it is available to the tailor. As it is, the process of tailor is very interactive. "do you want this and that" "I would like that and this" "more of this and less of that?" etc. That is something that needs to be strenghtened in this game and not reduced.
I encourage everyone to come to my store and shop first.
For one thing, half the time what they want is on my vendor already
But if it isn't, they have 400 items to look at and see colors (not to mention my showroom). Customers email me and say "I would love a Fighter Flightsuit in your 'ocean blue' color you have" andit works fine
People are very visual...and also see color differently (especially males). In beta (ok, granted it was when I only had like 20 colors to play with hehe) I made a muscle shirt in every popular color and just lined em up against a wall for color display. Worked great ![]()
