Can someone please give me a link to Nivea's website, or any other tailor sites that are good

www.pgoh.org/swg/nivea it's a godsend. There's also a recomended price next to each article, kinda nice to have a good general base price when negotations start.

Umm. It is nice, but (a) the color palette hasn't been updated, and (b) holy cats, those prices are high. Those numbers come out to almost 20 credits per resource!

I mean, yes, I understand that Master Tailors can charge that much and still turn away work, but wow. At two boxes short of Master Tailor, I'm charging about 1/3 that much (admittedly a sale price) and I still can't get clothes to move off of the vendors.

On the test server, I charge 1:1 resource 1:2 on specific resource and charge 25% gratuity PLUS a 50% markup per socket and the highest an article has come to is 2700 (one of the 4-socket masteroworked bodysuits)

With that in mind I still can't find a way to spend my money fast enough, and with Master competition out there too.

I can't imagine charging 10k for something. But then I also harvest all my own resources and refuse to pay more than 1:1 for resources sold. 2:1 if they're off season rare stuff.

..then again the test center economy is way different.

Actually, I agree completely. Obviously I'm not on test centre, but even charging 3:1 for general resources, and 5:1 for hides and specials, and extra for factory components... I'm not coming near the 10k mark for anything. Meantime, I'm still making more money than I can spend, while funding a starting-out weaponsmith friend and powering countless harvesters and two houses. My most expensive item remains the Grand Ball Gown, which sells for 5k at the moment...mostly on account of it taking such a variety of factory components, which makes a critical fail on the thing a real pain in the behind.. *grins*

I use a 5 cr per unit basis, 10 for hides, 12 for more specific items... Then multiply by 1.25 for tier 2, 1.5 for tier 3, 1.75 for tier 4 and 2 for master items. Makes the master items at 8k or so tops, which is much cheaper overall than most tailors on my server.

Yes, I have much more money than I can spend, but it goes the other way as well. I created a character on another server, and it's just the same for everyone, there is just too much money in the game with not much to spend on... Spending 20k on clothes is just the only think you have left to do with your money at some point.

I don't want to turn this into another pricing argument/flame thread.

But for thoseof you who just have to do a flat resource based pricing, consider scaling stuff up logically instead, or at least adjusting for tiers?

If a Novice Tailor Sleeveless Dress is "worth" 5*105 = 525 credits, does it make sense that a Formal 2 Intricate Dress also costs 525 credits because it uses the exact same number of resources?

If people will buy paramilitary camos off the bazaar all day for 2950 credits, why sell yours for 700?

It makes no sense to me.

/shrug

Oh, and this whole "don't want to rip people off" bit is getting old.. people were making hundreds of thousands of credits this weekend running missions. I don't know if there was exploiting going on, or just the discovery of some poorly executed missions, but money was flowing like water. An architect friend of mine couldn't keep furniture on the bazaar because everyone was decorating their newly purchased houses. If you can make 60K in 2 hours of missions, then an intricate dress should sell for more than 525 credits. And remember, with no decay.. that dress will be around forever.

Well, that's just the thing -- I do price according to demand as well. My camo's cost a good deal more than comparible (resource-wise) pants, just like dusters and patterned slip dresses, for instance. I just can't stomach charging 4k for the things.. *grins* And I certainly wouldn't put the slip dresses up for that much either (they currently go for a comfortable 2600). I run higher prices on the master class items, simply because I agree with the notion that they shouldn't be something that everyone can afford immediately, or they lose some of their 'wow' value. But 15k for a leotard strikes me as exorbitant.

Oh, and yes, there was a bug on Saturday, I think it was -- it was fixed by the next day, but a pistoleer friend of mine did indeed make 80K on that Saturday with absolute ease.

As to the palettes... I have not updated them. I have not had the time with real life and was just able to get in last night after almost 2 weeks. It would be helpful if people could say which ones have changed. I believe all of the 4's and those like it have changed to the new palette with the extra 55 colors. I have not seen any changes in the other palettes.

As to the prices... I have only had 3 people in game complain about the prices out of A LOT of customers. I originally made that website for my own purposes and customers. It is perfectly fine by me if others wish to charge the same price, at least that way we will not get into the mess that the architects are in. 120k for a large house? Should be more like 400k+ because of how many resources they take and how easy it is to get credits. But the first master architect was able to set the price for the future generations of architects.

If I charged at the low rate I see others charge I would never be able to keep in stock probably. I would like to have time to enjoy the sights and sounds of Naboo rather then just make clothes 24/7. /shrug And as was mentioned before, your clothes will not wear out. If they did, I would drop my prices. But since you can buy one grandball gown that will last an eternity... I am going to go watch the waterfalls on Naboo.

My comments weren't really directed to people in this thread, but just tailors in general.

I see things on the Bazaar that just make me sad really.. and also very glad I started six weeks ago working my way up the tailor profession. I made a good living by finding items that sold well, and restocking the bazaar a couple times a day. But now? I'm really not sure if its possible to support yourself selling artisan items. Everything is just so cheap now.

My prices are not quite as high as Nivea's, but I think they are quite fair. I still seeitemslistedon the Bazaar for 1/2 to 1/3 of my prices. Patterned Slip Dress for 1000, bustiers for 1000, uniform boots for 400, reinforced jackets for 300, etc. I use the Bazaar more for advertising - and if stuff sells, great, otherwise it gets my name and shop waypoint out there. I still see one person buy three bustiers at 1750, or two camos at 2950, etc. To me that is more an indication of "fair" prices than trying to factor it by resources.

My bazaar and vendor prices are what I think of as MSRP, or List Price. I frequently discount in person, or throw in a free item. One customer spent 10K at my vendor - I emailed her to come by and pick up a free coordinating jacket or other item.

I've got a fairly well established business now - my shop is close to town, I have ~100 items on display, and over 300 on my vendor. I get decent foot traffic, and the area I live in seems to get new houses every day (especially this past weekend, lol). I'm satisfied with my sales volume - it covers my daily costs and some expansion. To be honest, I'm not looking to become a millionaire tailor. I'm already considering what my next career will be (not dropping tailor ever though). I do enjoy being a tailor but the future of the profession is a little hazy - between no item decay and market saturation - so I'm just considering it one stop along the way in my SWG "career."

I noticed one thing on the site: no muscle shirt listed. I figured you might want to know.

When I first opened my shop (couple of weeks ago) i got a lot of people who didn't know what they were looking for or wanted, and a lot of people that were upset that I didn't havea complete display room (i like my furniture better :smileyhappy

So, I made a 1-day quick project catalog so people could see what items i make and sell.

if anyone's interested, it's here:

Might also add that the Flex Form shirt you have pictured is in a single color, can't see the pattern of the colors.

And on pricing, I charge about 25-33% less than Nivea's list, and lower on slow moving items.

But considering my time to make the items, as well as the cost of the effort to get the skills, I'm not going to go any lower either. If I get undercut, I'll deal with it. People still buy my stuff, so I must be doing something right.
