I myself am not a tailor. That said I have a question. Could anyone please explain sockets to me? Are the skill mods that go into them tailor made or can only be looted. I read somewhere that right now these stat modifiers are broken. Any info you could give me would be much appreciated. Thanks,

Sockets are a sort of 'virtual pocket' in the clothes that can only hold one type of item...skill enhanching attachments. There are many different types and all are dropped by NPCs. The ones that go in clothing look like a roll of tape. You may add one attachment per socket, and once added you cannot remove the attachment. It becomes a permenant part of the clothing item. To add the attachment, simply unequip the clothing item (if you are wearing it), then pick up the attachment on your cursor and drop it onto the piece of clothing.

Some rules to follow: only add one skill mod per piece. That is to say, if you have 2 tapes each adding to pistol accuracy for example, you need to put them in different articles of clothing. Using more than one modifier type per item will only waste a socket as only the highest mod will display.

Sockets are randomly assigned to the clothing during the crafting process, and the only thing that has an effect on giving more sockets per item is the skill of the tailor. The tailor can do nothing to determine the outcome when crafting the clothes, although a master is more likely to get 3-4 sockets while a novice tailor is more likely to get 0-2. What this means is that when a tailor crafts an item and gets fewer sockets than you wanted be prepared to pay more for the results, as the tailor cannot just recycle the clothing and try again...components are used up (very often factory created components) and the cost WILL be passed on to you. The maximum socket number per item is 4. Some items never ever have sockets, so if this is a main concern be sure to inform your tailor before placing your order. 4 Sockets means you may add 4 tapes.

Currently these skill mods are broken, currently making them a good buy for when and if they are fixed in an upcoming patch. You do run the risk of the ones you have now not being fixed, and only the new ones working correctly. Chances are as good for a fix as for none so if you have the cash to spare buysome and save them. You might get a good deal now,but if they are fixed I imagine the prices will rise considerably.

I have to disagree - the tissue modifications in question, entertainer healing, medical healing, melee/stun defense, warcry, and intimidation, are being fixed serverside. This means that items with these modifications will begin to work, not that they will become bugged. The exception to this will be the additions to medicine usage, as that is being removed, and camouflage, which is having mask scent added to it. It is a safe assumption that clothing that existed pre-patch, that simply adds to a given skill, will do that after the patch. Basically, they're turning on the modifications on their side. I don't see how that would make anything pre or post patch more or less effective.
