Thread: Disappearing clothes bug...
Anyone know if there is a workaround for the disappearing clothes bug?
Twice now I've bought expensive new clothing only to have it disappear from my person and/or my inventory. This last incident was particularly painful as I travelled half-way across the galaxy to visit a particular Master Tailor's shop, bought 20,000 in clothes with which I was going to clothe my vendors, and the entire purchase disappeared by the time I got back to my shop.
I tried logging out and coming back... no joy.
Anything else I can do outside of ctrl-H and tossing a ticket into the black hole?
Cheers,
Kaizen
This is different from the old bug where a relog fixed it. With this one, it's gone for good.
I just need to tell my customers to be patient and wait, or log naked, or try to avoid server boundaries? Bleh.
Oh well.
Yeah, this thing has really been happenening a lot since the 8/13 patch, maybe even earlier.
It gets pretty irritating to have to tell everyone that buys stuff from my shop that their items may go poof.
To the best of my knowledge, a /logout with a complete exit of the client fixes the problem about 90% of the time. For the other 10%, it seems that my customers have to wait until a morning server reset.
I don't think anybody has ever told me that their items have completely vanished, although I am expecting it to happen. ![]()
Is there anybody else here that thinks if this bug happened to armorsmiths and weaponsmiths that the problem would have been fixed in a week? Yeah, me too...
Devs I know you guys are busy trying to make tailors obsolete, and you've done a smashing job. Could we get just a little attention to this please? At least while there are still tailors around to be affected by this?
Another solution is to wait 10-15 minutes before crossing boundrys, so that the clothing 'sticks'. Don't jump on a shuttle either.

You can try doing a logout in the shop right after you buy the clothes. That forces a character save and seems to work, at least for me. Otherwise, they seem to come back as long as you log naked if you were wearing them. If you aren't naked, the clothes you were wearing get overwritten and you lose those (I lost a staff that way).
I hope that helps.

Speaking of backpacks ... if the customer buys a backpack , make sure they do NOT put anything into it till they are sure it will not poof. Had a couple of customers that bought packs from me and loaded it up then left my shop. The backpack eventually came back but everything in it was gone.
Also, if they put the clothing on and it poofs when they leave, make sure they do not put any clothing on when they log out. I've seen where the item will return and overwrite the clothing they were wearing making it disappear forever. Had one customer loose a very expensive set of armor that way.
But as others have mentioned, the key is to force the server to remember the purchase by either moving to a worn backpack or waiting 10-15 minutes before leaving the shop.
