A Guide to Bio-Enhanced Clothing
Bio-Engineer tissues can be placed in one of two components to make clothing, synthetic cloth (SC) or reinforced fiber panel (RFP). The maximum bonus you could ever get on any skill (be it through tissues, skill tapes, or any combination) is always +25. If you wear items that give you greater than +25 (say +50), then the higher number will show up in your skills, but the game will only still compute a +25 bonus. Also, even if you have a skill enhanced, this will not allow you to use skills you could not normally use (if you are not a medic, no amount of enhancements is going to allow you to heal wounds).
Bio-Tissues by Components:
Following is a list of all available enhancements to clothing and in what tailor components they must be placed. If an aeticle of clothing does not call for one of these components it cannot be enhanced.
Synthetic Cloth:
Passive Biosensors - gives a bonus to injury and wound treatment (usable by those with medical skills).
Active Biosensors - gives a greater bonus to injury and wound treatment (usable by those with medical skills).
Myoflex Cloth Treatment - gives a bonus to entertainer's healing (usable by those with entertainment skills).
Enhanced Myoflex Treatment - gives a greater bonus to entertainer's healing (usable by those with entertainment skils).
Passive Tranquilizers - gives a bonus to taming wild/vicious creatures (usable by Creature Handlers).
Active Tranquilizers - gives a greater bonus to taming wild/vicious creatures (usable bt Creature Handlers).
Reinforced Fiber Panel:
Constrictor Cloth - gives a bonus to bleed defense (usable by anyone).
Coagulant Agents - gives a greater bonus to bleed defense (usable by anyone).
Confidence Cloth - gives a bonus to intimidation and warcry (usable by those with brawler skills).
Fear Release - gives a greater bonus to intimidation ans warcry (usable by those with brawler skills).
Toughened Fibers - gives a bonus to melee and stun defense (usable by anyone).
Tensile Release - gives a greater bonus to melee and stin defense (usable by anyone).
Scent Camouflage - gives a bonus to mask scent and camouflage (usable by those with Scout or Ranger skills).
Scent Neutralization - gives a greater bonus to mask scent and camouflage (usable by those with Scout or Ranger skills).
Visual Camouflage - gives a bonus to cover (usable by Riflemen).
Mimetic Circuitry - gives a greater bonus to cover (usable by Riflemen).
Stacking Bonuses:
All clothing schematics require several slots of resources to make them. For example, the schematic for a Grand-Healer's Robe looks like this:
Slot 1 - 60 units of Hide
Slot 2 - 3 identical Trim
Slot 3 - 2 identical Jewelry Setting
Slot 4 - 50 units of Metal
Slot 5 - 3 identical Synthetic Cloth
Slot 6 - 2 identical Synthetic Cloth
To stack bonuses from tissues from a single article of clothing requires for 2 or more slots in the schematic to call for either synthetic cloth or reinforced fiber panels (depending on what you want to stack). If the schematic calls for identical components in a sigle slot, then those multiple units of tissue will not stack. Going back to the example of the Grand-Healer's Robe, if you were to add to slot 5, three identical synthetic cloths treated with a +14 active biosensor and 2 untreated synthetic cloths to slot 6, you would get a Grand-Healer's Robe that gave you a +14 bonus to your injury and wound treatment skills when worn, even though you had to add three +14 tissues. However, if you added the treated cloth to both slots 5 and 6, you would have a +25 bonus to those skills (even though 14+14=28, remember +25 is the highest possible bonus), but you would have had to use 5 tissues to get that bonus.
As of this writing, there is no single article of clothing that could stack tissues added to reinforced fiber panels. Also, no Bio-Engineer could make any one tissue with a +25 bonus by itself. To get a +25 bonus for an RFP tissue, you would have to wear multiple articles of clothing.
Jewelry, gloves, footwear, belts and backpacks cannot be enhanced by tissues.
Skill Tapes and Sockets:
Skill tapes are item loots from mobs that enhance skills just like tissues. They look like a roll of scotch tape and are not craftable by anyone. They can be placed into any clothing items (except backpacks) that have sockets. The maximim number of sockets any piece of clothing may have is 4. To place a skill tape into an item, just move the tape over the item you want it attached to. If the item has any available sockets, it'll take the tape.
Tailors do not control how many sockets any creation will have, although the closer you are to master, the more frequently you'll turn out 4 sockets.
Hope this helps
