Ok folks, I wan to know how and what you did to get master concerning resources. I am currently a Novice Tailor but I can't seem to go up because of my lack of resources. They are just to expensive when you have to pay 6000 for 1k of fiberplast. I've tried putting down some harvesters, but had problems maintaining them because of money shortages. And yes I hunt all the time. But in order for me to kill anything I have to get buffed which takes up another 8k of my hard earned credits. I really could use some advice here. I want to be a master. Can someone give me some advice please!!!

Thanks!

you can start by selling resources yourself. each unit of resource using harvestors typically costs less than 1cpu. if you were to sell for 3 cpu, you've already tripled (or more) your original investment. if you pay attention to the really good stuff (stuff armorsmiths, weaponsmiths or doctors need), you might even get upwards of 20 cpu.

once you get things rolling, it isn't hard to maintain lots of resources for your own crafting purposes.

What I did while advancing (bear in mind this was all crafting-for-profit, not "grinding") kept me afloat pretty well cash-wise.

I just had 2 small harvesters, both chemical-type, and would have one collecting fiberplast, the other polymer. Generally, the amount of fiberplast was just right for my own crafting needs, but I could sell half or more of the polymer at 3 cpu. It worked out that even if I wasn't selling clothing very well, I could keep everything running, get what I needed in energy and metals, etc.

Once your tailoring business starts turning a steady profit, though, it's not hard to afford resources on the open market.

Survey missions! Great way to earn cash. Get 2 survey missions for the same resource and find it. It's cake! The payouts get higher if you have a tier-4 combat ability.

Shameless plug: read my starting over article on swgtailor, which has tips about getting survey missions.

Artisan crafting missions between Moenia and Deeja Peak kept my harvesters powered and paid for. These missions are 1200-1300 credits each, and round trip shuttle between the two cities is in the neighborhood of 230 credits. Take two missions from Moenia to Deeja, then two back - you'll clear almost 5k per trip. During the wait times for shuttles, craft or sample, or both. There's practically no danger unless you have low enough thug faction to cause the muggers in Moenia to attack you.

And for the love of everything holy, when you buy your personal harvesters, be sure they've got a Base Extraction Rate of 4!

And don't buy resources for such high prices if you can help it. We don't have any experimentation so the resource quality doesn't matter. Buy the cheapest/highest quantity stuff you can find.

I wouldn't buy anything above 3cpu to grind.

What I did was survey missions. Get out of a city about 1km, survey and find something above 80%. Keep the wp and just run missions back and forth for that kind of resource... That's how I paid for my resources to grind back then.

Survey missions are a great idea. They were broken for most of the time I was advancing, so I never really used them much, but nowadays, they'd be just the thing to supplement a novice tailor's income.

Yah, the survey missions were still broken when I was nearing completion too. I bought some stuff off the bazaar, and did artisan missions to make enough cash to keep my few small harvesters running. I did the Mos Eisely to Anchorhead ones for 1300 or better. No missions back to Eisley, but also no running all over to find the NPCs, which greatly reduced the turnaround time.

The artisan mission terminal is just a few steps away from the shuttlepad. If you get missions for at least 1300 or a bit more, the NPCs to pick up from are just around the cornerof the building behindthe shuttlepad. Get a round trip ticket. And now crit fails don't eat your parts, you can make the items while you wait for the shuttle or after you arrive in AH. The NPCs to deliver to are right beside the shuttleport, or just over by the cantina. Sample for ores while you wait too. Rinse and repeat. You can also pick up a lot of AP in AH while waiting for the shuttle back to Eisley. There's always someone asking for artisan skills there.

In one 3 day weekend, I grinded artisan missions hard on that route and made 140k, enough to buy my large Tat house which is now my shop.

I grouped with a couple of friends and did faction missions. even If my friends weren't around I was able to pick up easy ones within 600m of my home city which meant I could do a LOT of em in an hour or two. Quick cash and was quickly able to buy 3 BER4 Chemical Harvs and 3 BER4 Mineral Harvs and 1 or 2Power Harvs. Surveyed for a GOOD (80% plus) spot for fibreplast or inert and plonked down all my harvs.

The power Harvs keptme from having to pay for power and running faction missions (yes boring I know but was able to trade most of my faction points for training in my other professions at the same time) Kept me in cash for Harvestor Maintenance. Sold what I didn't use (hoarded the good stuff hehe have about 40k of 996 Conductivity Copper VERY handy as I'm also and artisan) and made a tidy amount of cash on the side this is what really got me started.
