Be afraid, be very afraid.

I'm in my shop, and my customer says "ah, are you still a master Image Designer" and I'm thinking ... never met this person before, she knows me only as a tailor... maybe by reputation? Not by flag, because it says "choreographer"... ACK MY BADGE!!!

Granted, all your masteries will appear, whether you have given them up or not, but probably people will look down the list to the most recent. So when running through a crowded starport and someone yells - "hey you, tailor, can u make me something kewl, in black, will pay u 200 credits" that's why.

I'm not pleased with the badges either! I'm a master artisan, ID and tailor and I don't enjoy running to the starport and having six tells at once for vehicles, hair sytles, necklaces, and enhanced clothing when i just want to jump to another planet.

I understand that it's nice to have them, but i think the badges should have an off switch for people that don't desire the attention.

I don't like them either. As soon as I saw it, I'm like NOOOOOOOOOOOO.....lol...I have already made myself unsearchable and have also taken down my tailor tag so long ago so that I could live in some sort of peace...lol..now all of that has backfired on me

They are nice to have to show your accomplishments, but should not be in sight for others to just randomly see.

Indeed, there are times when I'm out doing non-Tailory things like farming a little FP or going through a Theme Park and I don't want any Tailor based attention. None the less, people will look at that bio and see "Master Tailor" and start bugging me for clothing.

If any potential customers are reading this: If someone has a Master badge in their bio, but they don't have that particular title showing, then assume it's like a taxi; the sign is off, so they ain't on lookin' for patrons.

In the mean time, ya wanna know the best way to hide your profession badge? Go out and get lots and lots and lots of other badges. With any luck, they'll get lost in the sea of words.

i hate to sound rude here, but i like badges, but not the profession ones, i dont like getting tells demanding service now when im not tagged as a master tailor, but on corellia, talus, tatooine, and even lok, anywhere i go i get tells wanting me to make them things right there on the spot. yes i have a crafting droid for when i decide to chill in the cantinas i make things for the dancers who arent afk as gifts, ( i like to be nice one ina while) but the ones who /tell me while im on other planets demanding i make such and such right now...well they are ones i just dont answer, most dont ask again. some do get rude, but i /ignore them.

Or just start telling them that you:
* used to be a Master Tailor but gave it up
* were only holo-tailoring
* lost all your crafting tools/resources to a bug when your house poofed
* don't do it anymore b/c people keep bothering you when your tag isn't on

LOL I WISH I got such attention. Being a Novice Tailor just sucks. I was told people would kill me for Synthetic cloth crates, but I never get any requests. AND the requests I do get are all for reinforced Fiber Panels. Oh, wait, can't make those... sigh

SOrry about the badge thing, I feel for you. my other character is an ID and she gets jumped constantly for changes.
