Well, my third holo said I need to master tailor. No offense, but I am going to grind through it as fast as possible, then move on to my next profession. Hope this doesnt annoy you too much.

As long as you use practice mode and leave real tailoring to the real tailors.

Ok Arthur i was prolly not very clear lol. I meant that because you grind doesn't make you a bad tailor, and for me on the contrary if you are acrafter and wants to know your product and offer the best you can, you need to be master.

Wow, this is an old post! I started it long long ago... Things luckily have improved on the Tailor scene. You have far more people grinding to Master, but seems even less are in the profession as actual Tailors then there were months ago. I support about 10 different armor smiths with synthicloth, and my vendor never sells out because I keep them well stocked, but does tons of buisness daily. (Expecially my vendor that only sells Black Clothing.)

The only reason I am grinding to master tailor is because I feel I have nothing to offer consumers until I am master.

I can't make any clothes people actually wear, and the few things I can make, I can only make them in an off black and off white tone.

It is my intention and utmost goal to own a shop where I sell clothes. And unfortunatly I cannot have that shop until reaching master and making stuff people want.

Otherwise, I would take my time.

Just wait till you get to master, and find that black casual pants, hide boots and leather work gloves are some of your biggest sellers... *grins*

The black you have now is the only one you will get - it's as black as it gets.

As for not being able to have a shop until you reach master, you could have fooled me. I started my store with novice tailor and maybe one or two other boxes and did just fine. Before that, I sold items on the bazaar to finance my business and it's expansion.

When you do reach master, and you open your shop, you will find out that black is the most popular color. You will also find out that the majority of your sales will NOT be master level items, but a surprising number of decidedly mundane items. Black leather gloves, black hide boots, etc.

Now, being master does give you a better selection of bright colors and there are people (thankfully!) who want clothes in those colors. And often times people will seek you out for novice and even artisan items because you are a master tailor. Go figure.

I guess my point is that actually someone would probably do BETTER trying to cater to the mid-level market. I know what sold like hotcakes when I was working my way up through the ranks, and I rarely see those items on the bazaar. Very, very rarely. So, there *is* a need for non-master tailors and non-master items.

You all bring such hope to the struggling tailor I am trying to make a name for myself in the big, big world.

It sucks that the black isn't real black. I remember this same problem on Ultima Online. What bothers me most though is that some items come out looking more black then others and in the end, they don't match.

Tailor is so fun though. It's the most fun I had ever on this game. I used to hate waiting for the shuttle but now when I'm stuck there, I just get out my crafting kit and start crafting. Reminds me of sitting around in public and knitting! ... which I have done once at the airport! =o

Making my own clothes is exciting too. I always feel so proud of myself! I can't wait 'til I can make stuff in more fun colors. I'm also learning weaponsmith but that I'm not too excited about. Getting resources is a pain as it is, but with weapons I have to actually look at quality so.. that's going to be a real hassle. That is the one thing I like most about tailoring, the quality don't matter. But it is also the thing I don't like. Any tailor can easily match you so getting people who already have a tailor to come to you will be difficult, and then keeping your customers will be a bit of a task too.

But that is what is most fun! lol...

I wish we could still do that, I have a blanket I have been working on for way too long.

But as for this thread coming back to haunt the forum, I think it's actually brings out some really good discussion. By all means, resurrect old threads that actually discuss tailoring as opposed to adding yet another post on how BE Tissues work or how to grind.

I have to say that I wasn't a grinder but it took my months and months to learn just the first three CasualWear boxes. Yesterday afternoon to early eveningI macroed Tailoring I, II, III and part of IV! I don't play that much. I would log on, make enough clothes to replace what had sold, put stuff on the bazaar and that was it. The points seemed to never add up.
