So, there I am doing another custom order and muttering about people only wanting black again.
And it dawns on me... I've been a goth since the age of 16 and I've got my 19th birthday in 6 weeks; I wear black almost exclusively. (and I can't spell exclusively, but it IS 2 am)
I'm wearing black RIGHT NOW and fuming over the fact that no-one's buying the nicely co-ordinated outfits.
Not much of a question per se, just stumped me.

You know, this is something that I've been dealing with too. I wear dark colors almost all the time, and when I was in high school through the first few years after high school, I was goth/punk, and always wore black or other dark colors, completely shunning any other color (especially pink...still haven't gotten over that). And now, as a tailor, I keep trying to get people to try brighter colors! "No, really, the bright hazard orange looks fabulous on you!" I don't get it either.

Nothing gives clothing a flare like the colour blue.

I like tied die. a-yup, and batik too.
flannel plaid is a fav of mine as well.
even back in jr high ages ago of being punk (shaved head, peirced places, tats full veiw, before it was a fashion) i wore tied died clothes.
i can't help it all the pretty colors...
Man I so want to raid the Ithorian wardrobe for my Zab...fade died shirt, mystic pants...they call me....

I think there are two things that lead to the fascination with black in Galaxies.
First, I think a lot of people wear black in-game because it actually looks decent. Wearing all black is something relatively few people can pull off sucessfully (and while still looking good) in real life.
Second, a lot of pop culture movies have their characters wearing all black outfits. People fantasize that they can be just like their favorite superhero/villan and thus all end up looking identical.
It's pitiful really. I try to encourage folks to pick up something that's at least trimmed in something other than black. I also try to steer them away from choosing grey or white as the trimming too. We have all these great colors, why not use them.
