Thread: Clothing Dissappearing
A customer will come to my shop, I'll make him/her a whole mess of clothing, they will put them on, pay me, and leave. Then 5-10 min later I'll get an urgent /tell from this customer saying OMG, I'm standing here naked, all that clothing I just bought vanished. Once they logout and log back in, the clothing re-appears just fine.
Anyone else see this?
I've also witnessed this myself when I make a bunch of clothing, put it in a backpack for my merchant to pick up, and then 5-10 min later I look in the backpack and see that it is empty.
Also, if anyone can help me think up good lines to tell customers when this happens (since it happens so frequently) it would be a big help, lol. So far I've got:
"Well, you've heard that they implemented clothing decay didn't you?"
"You really need to stay away from those clothing-eating corellian butterflys"
"Are you sure? Maybe you just imagined coming over here, I don't remember you"
"I made it so my clothing only lasts 5 min, I get more sales that way"
Yep, happens quite a bit to me. I've only had one person not have the clothes reappear when they relogged. I also make sure to tell them they only appear naked to themselves.. everyone else still sees the clothes. :-)

I've had that happen a few times recently, but what can I say? I guess my clothes are fit for an emporer. ![]()
I had it happen to me when I was playing my non-tailor on Eclipse. I think it's a variation on ye olde "cross a server boundary and lose everything you bought in the last ten minutes due to database problems" bug, just with a little bit more style thrown in. I've also had it happen with weapons, which I'm sure you can imagine is much, much more fun.
"Um, hey. How are you guys doing? You know that whole thing where I shot at you a minute ago? Well, I didn't know my weapon was going to vanish. So, y'know, just an honest misunderstanding. Yeah. You're going to kill me now, aren't you?"
This happens to my clients quite a lot, as there is apparently a server boundary right outside my shop.
I try to remember to remind my customers to log and come back should their clothing poof (which it does 99% of the time), but with a shop full of people I sometimes forget.
If they hang out for 10 minutes or so, or log in my shop there is no problem with it.
The only times clothing vanished permanently for any of my clients is when they equip another piece of clothing, and then log.
And yes, the tells I get about this are incredibly funny, ranging from "Ummm...I'm like Ken-doll nekkid" to "OMG! You ripped me off!!"
Great fun.
Yes, I have my standard replies to these as well. I alsoam sure to tell them that it is only they that cannot see them and that relogging normally fixes it. Fortunately, I have yet to have someone accuse me of ripping them off.Everyone is understanding andseems to beaware of this bug or that the game is buggy in general.
It is still rather embarrassing tho...
Are you serious people actually got upset at you? hehe, most of my customers react with amusement over it. And they all know that the trade went through ok, because every time they have been wearing the clothing when it has vanished, which also makes it all the more hilarious.
One guy even took photos of his nakedness and was rolling on the floor laughing. I'm still working on "my material" as far as how to "come back" at a customer who sends me a tell, telling me that all the clothing they just bought vanished.
FIX:
type /sit
type /logout
Stay logged out for 30min.
OR:
type /sit
type /logout
Stay logged out till aftr server reset.
This disappearing bug happened to me once with a whole backpack of items and half my inventory. That kinda freaked em out but turned out okay. I get pissed though when I have to log out for 30 min while I am in the middle of having fun. GRRR. This bug in different variations has happened to me 4 tims. Lame.
As for that naked vendor, the hat and boots make him look even more naked, its hilarious.
