Seems i might have found a bug or maybe i just missed something. I didn't get any free unlocks so i converted all 120k of the tailor xp i had. So ihaven't filled the Novice box yet in the Crafting Masterey. I got the phase one quest to fix a Communication Dish. Not sure if i'm missing something or maybe you need to be novice before taking the quest. I can Open the the control panel that im suppose to repair and remove the 4 items in there. But what do i do with them? Am i missing a tool or something?

Remove the items. Then follow the next waypoint to a nearby hut. Use one of the two devices on the table to "deconstruct" each broken part. This will give you a schematic for each. Go find the resources for the parts (aluminum, steel, copper, carb.ore, extr.ore, yavin wind, rori fiber, talus fiber, naboo water, and a few others). Make sure to grab enough resources for a few of each component.

Return to the village with the parts (or make them in the village). Go to the hut where you deconstructed them. Use the calibrator.

Each item must be calibrated by finishing a puzzle. You basically get two patterns. You have to make the first match the second. Every change you make to the component degrades it, so figure them out quickly. If the components integrity reaches 0, you will have to run it through the "deconstructor" again and make a new one (not a big deal if you brought extra resources).

Once all four devices are calibrated, return them to the array. Then you unlock Crafting Assembly and get a piece of a sculpture.

True, I made the mistake of doing this quest with my Sword/Ranger on accident... it's going to take me forever to get the xp to get the novice box (he has no crafting skill anymore)

Oh, well no hurry I guess

What we did was figure out all the components and made a bag of them. Then I went and got the components and disassembled them for the schematic. I then put them in an equipment factory and made crates of them. Now we have a bag of crated components and it's alot easier for the other crafters to do this quest
