Hey everyone, I've been a master tailor for 2+ months now and I'm starting to get the feeling that most people dont care about clothing any more. (Also in the back of my mind considering dropping this profession
)
My vendors maybe get 5 hits in a day, thats about it, and I have about 6 vendors divided into Ent clothing, Men clothing, Women clothing, jewlery and packs, BE and looted schems, and tailor components for armorsmiths (RFP and SC).
My origional belief was that most of my sales would come from the female avatars in the galaxy but it appears that most of the items being bought are black cloaks, sunguards etc., generally male stuff (no dresses or anything).
Perhaps its the sudden urge to unlock FS slots? I'm just wondering how everyone elses buisness is doing?
p.s. I'm also having a HELL of a time selling BE, the only times I sell them is if I tell someone its on my vendor or they custom order. Any tricks?

you may need to build a customer base first, make sure you are searchable so people can contact you.
as far as vendors, it took me a few months to accually start having really good sales. I dont think clothing is
in a decline, cause i am bombarded every day for custom orders. do you have planetary advertise?
also i like to sell things on the bazaar weekly and attach my shop info in the description. its a polite way of advertising.
doing that has accually drawn alot of people to me.

Definately advertize on the Bazaar (like mentioned above). Try to always have something on the 7 day auction. Try doing some advertising on the auction channels, as well. Make rings with your shop name and WP on them, then sell them on the bazaar
I don't doubt you can still find some jewelrynamed Karmah's Boutique floating around Chili still :
BE is the only clothing I do anymore, and I try very hard not to do custom orders
. I specialize in the +25 Inj/Wound treatment and the +25 Taming clothes. (It's very simple to do, just get some crappy +13 tissues and only use schems requiring 2 synth cloth).
Surprizingly, my wookie BE clothing sells very well (you can make a wookie hood with +25 to taming and +25 to inj/wound) and I charge up to 100k per item. It's not that I'm out to gouge people, but if I price any lower I can't keep up with the demand.
I love tailor and have been one for ages, but it's not for everyone. Keep your chin up and good luck!

As has been said, the trick is definitely getting a customer base. On Live I specialized in BE clothing, but since coming to TC I haven't had real access to tissues until now. Stocked my BE vendor for the first time yesterday and my god, the things are selling like hot cakes. I had to restock in under 24 hours.
My 'trick,' if you will: first, being business partners with n'Jessi doesn't hurt
but we're also known for having one of the best stocked shops on the server, so people pretty much already know where we are. When I posted to the TC forums to say that we now stock BE wear…well, it didn't take folks long to find us.
