Hi all,

I'm posting to get some of your veiws on the way you price your armour paddings, i have tried pricing them builing in what all the components would cost me to buy in and the price looks OTT and i have tried pricing them on how much they actually cost me in resources and time and its way too cheap as i would make more selling one crafters apron.

Anyway i would either like some insight as to how you guys and gals price or should i just aim in the middle of the prices i have come up with?

Hope to get some good informative posts please from fellow Tailors

Thanks

Well, these take some good fiberplast and hides. The armoursmiths pay huge bucks for the best hides, and can drive the prices up to 100cpu for the best ones. I made some wookie pillows using Oheld wooly hides. A full 1000 run of them. Most tailors won't know what this means, but the armoursmiths reading this will gasp and have heart palpitations....

The stats I got (using 12 points of experimentation) were: 4% (88% experimented) 306 condition, 4/5/4 HAM

Overall, these stats compared favourably to crappy stuff in the 800+ quality range. Which leads me and a few other armoursmiths to the conclusion that they are not as important as expected. I'd still like to try and get the very best possible though.

the 25 Oheld hides run about 100cpu, so it costs ME about 2500 credits to make one of these. If I double the price for profit, quality, rarity, then a crate of these paddings would sell for (5k * 25) 125,000 credits.

Cool thanks for the info its just what i hoped for, as you can see from my sig i have a Ranger alt so costs are low however i don't want to get into undercutting so i need to check hide prices carefully on my server.

Just for interest i am a 12pt Tailor too in Experimentation and assembly and these are my best results so far (i will edit with stats of hide used later)

4% (89% experimented)
226 (33% experimented)
5/6/5 HAM

I'm doing the full 1000 schem run

I make my own and have noticed no difference in the final product when using 86% eff to 91% eff paddings. It appears that is is all gravy once you crest over 85. I usually put the extra expt point or two into lowerng the ham by a point or two after hitting 86% eff.

There is a difference in the products with the base that when used in the Wookie armours that use more of them can add an extra couple of % on the effectiveness of the armour. Armoursmiths I deal with like a higher experimentation on effectiveness, lower HAM is just the cherry on top of the cake for them.

I am an armorsmith and a tailor. By finished product, I was referring to the armor piece itself. I have used identical resources and segments in hunting armor with 86%-91% experiemnted tailor paddings and have seen no difference in the final resists of the armor. I was stating that it is not necessary to experiment above 86% eff on the padding, because the armor will usually be the same (all cases during my trial). 86% = 4.30 base where 91% = 4.55 base. The difference between these two is minimal and will almost never play a roll. I was saying to experiment base to 86% then put the rest into encumbrance/condition. You get no benefit from dropping the extra points in to further raise base.

With YOUR final resources. I have made padding on Kauri, and also as an armorsmith, I did notice a difference. 1% in base (final) difference.
