I would like to dabble a few skill points in Tailor. What do people think are the best lines? What are the advantages of the tailor customisation and assembly? What are the most sought after items of clothing and which work best with bio-enhanced tissues?

Casual Wear: Shirts, pants, belts, shoes, and mostly regular everyday stuff that most people don't wear
Field Wear: Combat clothing, boots, dusters, and basically rugged outdoor stuff
Formal Wear: Dresses, formal jackets and shoes, jewelry, and other dress up items
Tailoring: Customization, assembly, experimentation (COLORS, less likely to crit fail, experiment on wookiee padded segments)
Master: Flight suits, body wraps, leotards, metal bikini, and all the jazzy stuff
The most popular clothing types come from the Field Wear, Formal Wear and of course the Master box. It all depends what you want to make. Sadly tho, you won't be very popular or get much demand for anything without the Tailoring line. Hell, you don't even get red until Master. For BE clothing, the most popular line is Field Wear for all the combat types (a shirt which can be worn under armor), for all the dancers, it's the Master Box for the leotard, metal bikini, grand ball gown etc.
It's hard to adequately dabble in Tailor as so much is tied to the Master box. I wish you luck.

excellent, thank you so much
Think the skill point squeeze will stop me from mastering
does anyone know of anywhere I can see how the colour pallet increases with skill, or does it change with different items?

I would have to agree that it's hard to dabble, because you don't get the GOOD colors until master.

I agree with n'Jessi. It's hard to dabble. I guess it kind of depends on why you want to dabble in tailor.
If you're in it for the ability to make your own clothes, then you won't get the good colors.
If you're in it for the money, you could just get enough to make trim, synthetic cloth, and reinforced fiberplast panels, and sell them in crates. Iwould say though, if you are doing it for the money, tailor is (IMO) not a profession to makebig bucks fast.
Last but not least, be a good tailor, even if you were to dabble. Don't sell high-end clothes for 250 creds a piece. It ruins the economy for other tailors sew for their main source of income
Good luck, Joefish

I don't know any site that does, tailoring 4 gives you some good colors, but it really is when you master that you get all the yummy colors, the colors everyone asks for.

To be honest, the money is in BE shirts. I would say that over 90% of my profits are making BLACK Lined Shirts with +4 melee/+17 Stun.
For this, you only need a bit of Fieldwear to be able to make them and the RFP cloth

Here's a table of the Full Color Palette and how it evolves from Novice Artisan to Master Tailor.
