Cant we Rangers and we Tailors all get along?
I've been grinding through some of tailor last night, and ran out of hide to grind with. so what did i do? i logged onto my TKM/Ranger, and in an hour i had myself 12k units of Lokian Leathery Hide to grind with. (those poor Orphan Gurks have no parents anymore
I propose that we all just decide to get along and stop fighting. Tailors need Rangers to supply them with hides. Rangers need Tailors to supply them with spiffy Cammo clothing.

Yes
and by yes i mean No.
actually i was just saying that since i've got a Ranger Character and a Tailor Character that my grinding is going very well
i'm up to tailor 1-0-1-1 now.
i would be higher in Tailor, but i'm also grinding Droid Engineer at the same time (DE 1-0-0-1)

but i actually do have a Tailor question. what does the Clothing Customization skill give me? i THINK it increased the number of colors available to me when crafting clothing, but i'm not positive about that.

EDIT: NM, I thought you were talking about customization skill tapes or jedi skillzors. Yeah, the tailoring line gives you colors and socketing, like As'rai said.

Correct. The Tailoring line gives you more colors and at Tailor 3, you start to see sockets more frequently.

If you have a truly copious hide supply, you may want to grind cloaks in casual wear 3. That is what I did when I had access to the frog on JTL beta... and then they enabled the frog with skills the next day...
That's right (as I go off on a tangent) - I GROUND tailor my first days in JTL so that I could test the new Ithorian wearables - and THEN they decide to give everyone frog skills. That's dedication, no?
But anyway, grinding cloaks is pretty nice for xp, better than ribbed shirts, not sure how it stacks up to cartridge belts.

I will say this.
If someone would have told me a month ago i'd be having so much fun as a crafter, I would have laughed at them, and thought they were nuts.
Well, that is not the case. Ever since Thursday of last week I've been crafting up a storm, and I've been having a blast doing it.
I love the reaction from a friend when i make her a new dress to wear.
I love the initial reaction from a noob Entertainer when I give them a Foam Droid for free and they turn it on for the first time.
Little things like that make the crafting fields so enjoyable. As a Ranger/TKM, I rarely ever am grouped with anyone, or ever interact with players other than in guild chat.
But with my second account being a crafter, I am talking to customers, taking orders, delivering products, and all sorts of stuff. I truely hope that the fun I am having never wears off.
So if any of our out there are on Lowca, and need Master Artisan goods, or low level Tailor or Droid good, look up Teero, and I'll hook you up.

actually, someone told me to grind Ribbed Shirts, but I played around with some other clothing, and found a great alternative.
Padded Wookiee Gloves (i think that's the name)
They take 40 units of inert PetroChem and 30 units of hide, and they give me about 160 xp in practice mode.

There's lots of better things to grind on, but ribbed shirts and cartridge belts use easily and cheaply obtainable materials. Grinding those gives you the best bang for the buck.
I hope you continue to enjoy crafting! I love being a crafter for the same reasons you have found. I think too many people see crafting as a quick way to make some credits, they grind up, sell a few things, say crafting suxs, and move on. But those that learn the profession, and take it seriously will always be the happier player. Some days its frustrating as hell and I just want to whack somebody upside the head, then you get that special customer that asks you to make them an outfit, they don't care what or what colors, you make them several different options, and they go nuts with joy. Those people are the reason I still craft and play SWG.
