Thread: Please, please, PLEASE: Really want an 'invisible' backpack and/or purse added to the game

Hi! Hi!

I am not a tailor; I am an entertainer. As such, my inventory always has 58 or 59 items out of 60 in it. I basically just leave room for buying a travel ticket. Why? Because every single backpack in the game looks absolutely horrible when you are performing with it on, so I never wear a backpack. (I have one to equip in absolute emergencies, of course, but 99.9% of the time I do not wear a backpack.) I would very much like to see the developers add an 'invisible' backpack that tailors can craft so that I can help alleviate my invnentoryhassle. A purse would be more immersive, but has a lot more work to it than making a backpack that simply doesn't show when equiped. To implement a purse, they'd need to make the artwork for it and then all the work to stick it in our hand, and have it move around with our hand as we danced. And it wouldn't work at all when it came to paying an instrument, or holding a weapon, etc. I suppose a purse that was on a strap over the shoulder, sort of like an alternate bandolier, would be easier to deal with. The purse would also look silly on the men, though I suppose they already have a replacement now with the bandoliers that can hold items like a backpack can. But the easiest option for the developers to implement is simply a backpack that does not show when equiped.

And yes, I know about storage droids. I have 5 droids, all with 10 item storage, and all of them full. But I can only really put secondary items in the droids, since they are not immediately accessable. What's worse, I can only call one droid at a time and I have to stop performing and go outside the cantina to call a new one.

If I had an invisible backpack, I could actually carry more clothes that I want to have with me, which means more business for you tailors, too!

I suppose one problem might be that the invisible backpack would kill sales of all other backpacks. This could be gotten around by making it another limited-use looted schematic like the other special backpacks that already exist in the game. I am more than willing to pay dearly for a loot-made backpack to have an invisible one.

Well I am sure we would all love to have something like this added to the game, but there is sort of an alternative available lately. There have been some loot bandoleers turning up lately that will hold 50 items as well, if you can manage to find one. I don't know that a bandoleer looks any better than a backpack for dancing, but I suppose its a matter of personal preference

It would seem eventually that they would add something like that to our craftable schematics if it is not a bug since they have given us all the other loot clothing with JTL (but I could just be overly enthusiastic lol).

The problem for me is that a bandolier and a grand ball gown looks even dumber than a backpack and the same dress! There really should be something for formal dress!

Yes, I know about the bandolier that holds items. I even mentioned it in my original post as a possible option for the men. But for women, it is simply not an option. It would look as bad or worse than the backpacks.

I am not sure they would be up to adding a invisible backpack, it would probably cause problems with the game mechanics. I don't see any reason they couldn't add purses or other variations that would look good with formal gowns and not look out of place dancing or performing with. That'd be cool if they did add this

You can have 4 droids, so 4 x 10 is 40 units of storage which should be enough for any girl to keep her outfits in

... or maybe not ¬_¬

I would like to point out that I'm a male that could use fashonable storage as well. I'm afraid a purse just wouldn't cut it for me.

Again, I mentioned this in my original post. I already have 5 droids, all with storage. But this can only be used for 'secondary' items, not things you need immediate access too. You can only have one droid out at a time, and the cantinas you can't even call the droid -- you have to go outside to call it. If you're trying to do a show where you change between several different outfits during the show -- droids are not an option at all. You need fast, immediate access to the items. We need an invisible backpack!

correction ... you can have * 5 * droids. I have 5 droids for an additional 50 items. Most of that space is filled with crated clothing, BE synth/rfp cloth, or my own clothing.

An invisible jet would have totally fit my Halloween costume as Wonder Woman. The flash speeder worked ok though.

Maybe I'm the only one that see's it this way but wouldn't adding an "invisible backpack" essentially be upping the inventory capacity to 100 or so? Why even waste coder time with the ordeal of creating an invisible backpack when the ultimate goal is simply to have a larger inventory. I would assume the inventory cap is a database size limitation so if the inventory was upped packs would no longer be able to hold items in order to maintain current database size. I would say that uping inventory and removing the ability of packs to hold additional items would be the way to go.

Then people can wear a pack as an accessory if they want to versus out of need.

EDITED: It doesn't matter how much they increase the inventory or how many invisible packs they make. Someone if not most people will always have a problem with the inventory size restriction. The solution is to prioritize your inventory both on your character and in your houses and bank. Destroy what you won't ever need and quit carrying around so much stuff. I carry my pistols, some brandy, 1 or maybe 2 outfits andsometimes aset of armor. I have no inventory problems at all and rarely wear my pack/bandolier. My tailor alt carrys a small supply of resources and components. Plenty enough to do on-the-fly tailoring. He never wears a packeither unless its factory runs or moving houses.
