Does anybody know what happens if you wear a bandolier-type item without a shirt or jacket? Do you appear bare-chested, or with your undershirt? Any difference in males vs. females? I've basically got a perma-backpack, so can't experiment myself easily....

No but you can get a very close look with a scout vest and a bandloeer - that leaves chest bare - its looks cool
