Thread: Factories Not Creating... Please Help

Please Help. I have set up a factory, put in pleanty of maintenance and power, selected the draft schematic (which has 1000 uses), put in the correct materials, and started it running. It ran great for the first 100. After 100 it stopped. I tried starting it again and it stops after attempting to create one. I changed schematics and materials, nothing.

What am I doing wrong?? Is there a bug? Am I missing something?

It's a bug.. factories have been broken since at least the "big patch." Mine made 15 items (out of 100) this morning before quitting.

Going to try redeeding it tonight..

Also, as far as I know, schematics were only intended to be for 100 items - the 1000 is a bug. That may be contributing to it.

The schematic I used this morning was just for 100 items.. I loaded enough materials for 100 items.. turn it on, and got a grand total of 15.

Bugs, bugs, every where bugs.

I hear that redeeding doesnt always work.... but my factory started misbehaving, I redeeded, and now it's happy as a clam... for now. With power and maint carrying over that's not as bad a solution as it used to be.

I tried to redeed both of my factories (wearables and structure) yesterday after they produced 100 items and stopped making more, they worked after replacement but only for another run of 100.

I don't have links, but here's some things that have come to light on this issue today:

1) Someone posted saying that if they made a schematic for 99 items (rather than 100), then only put in enough material for 97-98 items, the factory would continue to work. Just can't let it get to 100. *** This is something I haven't tested yet myself, so I cannot verify it....but it's worth a shot.

2) Holo just posted saying that there'll bea patch going in tomorrow that'll remove all redeeding costs for now, until the bug is fixed. So, if #1 doesn't work, at least it won't cost anything to pull the factory up & plop it back down again....starting tomorrow (8/23).

Thought I'd pass the info along...

Actually, I don't know that there has ever been a definitive answer on this. If there has been, please point it out to me - I'd like to see it.

Some folks say that typing the extra 0 in to make a schematic for 1000 instead of 100 is an exploit. However, try typing in 10,000. You get an error message that reads something similar to, "Please choose a value between 1 and 1,000." That would make it seem as if 1000 is a valid limit and, hence, the slider that only goes to 100 is what's broken.

Either way, factories are pretty badly bugged. If you try starting your factory and it fails to make even 1 item (even though it eats the resources AND you get the XP for it being crated), you have two options: redeed the factory, or wait for the server bounce in the morning. Note that redeeding the factory won't cost you any power, but you'll love 2500 credits and any items in either hopper, as well as what's in the schematic slot so make sure everything is empty. You can't just remove a schematic, either. You need to make a garbage schematic that you don't mind losing and replace the good one with that one. That's the only way to get your schematic out.

See? It's like I said - pretty buggy.

My factory has been broken since the big patch. I can only make some random low number of items each morning before it shuts down and stops working for the rest of the day. I haven't tried today, but I won't get my hopes up that it's fixed.

Anyway, has anyone tried placing a factory since this patch? And if so, are you having problems as well? I keep thinking that maybe if I buy a new factory, or reclaim the deed to my current factory, and place it now that it might work better. I suppose there's no harm in trying, but I may just be grasping at straws.

re: making a schematic for 99 then doing a run of 98 to fix the factory problem

I tried this last night and it didn't work. I coughed up the cash and redeeded my factory. I made a schematic for 95 synth cloth and put inenough materials for 90 and started it up. It successfully produced the 90 panels. So far, so good. Decided I really hate metal fasteners so I did the same thing with a 95 schematic and materials for 90. Started the factory up.. it created 45 and stopped.

Hopefully they will remove the redeeding cost with today's patch.

Same here, everytime I have tried starting with less than 100, the second run would work but would stop randomly.

I had started to test the theory last night....

Got the factory going for metal fasteners, and while I was waiting for that to finish...

*POOF*

Electricity went out.

We lost power from about 8pm until 1:30am last night due to a severe thunderstorm, so by the time I got back on the computer this morning, the server had already gone through the reset. So I'm having to start the theory testing all over again today. But a couple of my PA members said it's worked for them so far, so I don't know....hmmmmmm....
