Heya All, I'm curious, has anyone ever attempted to organize and put on a fashion show?I've been talking with another tailor in my guild, and we were thinking about putting on a fashion show to debut our new lines of clothing in the coming months. I'm thinking of doing it all swanky like, with models (players) strutting their stuff and showing off the new fashions. This would be in conjunction with the two of us opening new shops (vendors) complete with the new lines of clothing.

Logistically I think it'll be a pretty herculean task, what with organizing the people necessary and getting the models to be on cue and not crowding each other on the runway. Hell anyone know if there's a building in the game that has a runway?

I'm just curious it it's been tried before and if so how successful it was or was not. Thoughts / Ideas / questions / ect?

Thanks!

Hello there

I was just talking to another player about having a fashion show. She has offered up her cantina as a place to hold the event. I think that the stage area in a cantina will be perfect as a "cat walk". I don't think we will have any problems finding models, image designer, or entertainers. But we are in the "flirting" with the idea stage still so I am sorry I am not more help. I wish you the best of luck & can't wait to hear how things go

Take care!

Well I think Chiana has done one, but I'm not sure she's around anymore. I think the key to the event is to macro your lines beforehand such as "so and so is wearing blah blah blah".

It's really funny sometimes how many of us are on the same pages sometimes. I've been toying w/ the idea of a fashion show in my server too! So, if you don't mind, I'll use this thread as a shout out, hehe. Any Tarquinas tailors, masters or others, interested in getting together to talk about the idea, please send me an in-game mail, Valina Eco.

I would like to get a number of different tailors involved, to showcase many different looks and styles. The clothes and colors are all the same, but the way WE put them together is very different from tailor to tailor. Any Tarq ID's who would be interested in helping out would be a major asset too.

I've read other threads where someone pulled this off and it went well, would like to try it myself, plus it's a good way to meet other tailors on your server.

Ihave an alternate runway idea...but you wouldn't be able to walk on it

The cantina stage seems like the best idea to me, possibly you could add some bookcases stacked on top of each other to keep the models from being seen as they're waiting in the wings?

Hmmm, good, idea. I was thinking about this last night, b/c i love the catwalk idea w/ the cantina stage, but like the backstage area of NPC city Theaters. Didn't think about using the bookcases to make a backstage area!

YES! ive done it! and believe me, its was a huge hit!

finding the models wasnt that hard, i had three men and three women, most of them i got from the roleplaying community im in (Chimaera - Mos Entha Roleplaying Community), and one or two personal friends that i forced to model
each model showed two outfits each also..

i spent loads of money on the clothes (which the models of course got to keep after the show), and hours of planning, but it was well worth it!

the house we had it in is, i believe, was a large tat house.. not completely sure on that though..

problems during the evening:
my announcer crashed twice right before we were supposed to start, so i had to "take the microphone" myself..
one of my models got the clothes bug, the one that makes all the rest see her in her old clothes, even if she changes clothes.. (that one was a complete panic! didnt notice it until she was already out on the runway.. so what to do? i pretended that it was my clothes.. and just kept talking.. then another model helped her make sure that the bug disappeared before she went out again..)

heres some screenies from the evening:

Hey, thanks for the response, perhaps we should hijack this into a Q&A / feedback session on Fashion shows and, how to best put them on? I'm digging the feedback from people, the bookcases idea is awesome, and I think scripting out and macroing the descriptions of the outfits is wonderful. Anyway you cut it I think it's going to take some planninig and co-ordination, but that's manageable, definately.

Thanks again everyone for the feedback, and keep it coming!

well, i gave my models a lot of freedom as for emoting on stage, and i think they did a great job..
there were a few outfits that changed on stage, jackets that was slipped off and thrown over the shoulders, robes and short wraps that were removed to show swim suits.. stuff like that..

over all, it was a very fun event to make, and ill probably do it again some time

We had a great spring fashion show in Stargate - I macroed the script - put my models in same group so I could tell each one when to come out then hit a tool button and my character said what it was supposed to.

Sold alot of clothes that day - along with a friend of mine that sold several sets of armor.
