I finally was able to tweak my monitor this weekend. The result is I can see the difference between the 2 reds in the Master palette! It did make some other colors change from what I was used to, but I think that I will be able to better color match from now on.

If you don't want to spend money on a Spyder or something simmilar (which is kind of a waste of money if you are not doing desktop publishing or photography work), then you can get pretty close by adjusting your brightness and contrast. There is a guide here that looks pretty good.

Well, after adjusting my monitor according to the site, i do see a slight difference in the two reds, though not enough that it's a big deal ... maybe I should try adjusting it more.

What made the biggest difference for me was adjusting my monitor temperature. It was very high. I'll post again when I am home to tell you around where it is now. I think it may vary from monitor to monitor, but perhaps it will be of help.

I think that the normal white setting is usually supposed to be 6500K. The other setting make everything look too red or too blue.

Well they are pretty close! If they weren't then everyone would see the difference in the colors!

Yeah, mine's set to 6500k, everything else gives it shades of ... purple-ish.

Thats what I thought. The only reason I know this is that I do a lot of digital photography so I try to keep all the colors on my screen and printer correct!
