Thread: Advertising a Vendor?

Well, I'll go straight into it I guess. Basically, I'm 1,2,1,1 in tailor with a vendor holding 250+ items. I am 4,0,0,0 in merchant at the min also. I am having real trouble selling anything, I am lucky to make a sale a month. Occasionally when I visit the cantina I will be asked to make a bio engineer custom, which currently is the only income I'm getting. I'm a little lost as to how to increase my sales, how to get my name out there. Anyone have any useful suggestions? Because currently the vendor and building maintenace is just not worth it. I want to make a business, but don't know where to start

Right now I'm sure you're frustrated because you can make certain wardrobe pieces but not others. I think now is the time to be using the bazaar to sell some basics that people will always need. Here is Kara's list of items that sell at every single level. Hopefully you'll be able to put some "top sellers" on the bazaar to get your name out there while you are leveling.

I had posted this before on Ashlands thread so I like copy/paste!
infospammail!
make up a 'flyer' to email and forward out
make up 'calling cards' (simple items listing your name, shop waypoint) and hand out (or sell on bazaar)
tell folks, if you are chatting with new people mention your a tailor then casually fwd your WP
use /auc channel, you don't have to spam to be effective, every time you pass a planet (porting wise) let them know of your wares and where to go
*OH and you may want to 'tag' your clothing as well,
something for your name or business name in title for people to reconize as it being crafted by you
Mine is {A*A} , I set it at the end of every item I make. (copy/paste makes quick work of labeling)
I call my business Ani'cul's ATTIRE

When I was leveling up, I used to specialize in certain clothing. I made wookiee clothes and advertised on my server board ALOT!
You could do footware, gloves, beltsand stuff like that... as a master tailor I sometimes do not bother to make those items, but when I do they sell quickly.

Some things I did to help get my name out there (yes, some of these are already mentioned ...)
Put some fairly good sellers on the bazaar with the WP to my vendor in the notes.
When doing special orders, I would send an email with the WP to my vendors to the customer.
I use the auction channel - usually for new things I would like to advertize such as Holiday Clothing or for when the Tapestries came out.
I add *Prism Clothing* to the end of all the pieces I make. My vendors are also named things like "Prism Ithorian and Wook Garb", and my vendor is in a mall - seems to help a little with sales, though the mall is fairly out of the way of ... everything 
I use cantinas to boost sales and obtain new customers. You'll want to find a cantina that's fairly busy but not too full of AFKers (I know that'll be rough!) On my server Theed Cantina works really well, while Bestine is almost always empty.

I let others do the advertising for me!
I purposely put my tailors shop right in the densest area of vendors, hoping that people will see either my furniture or clothing vendor as they hunt for whatever it is they're hunting for. I could have put my shop on the other side of town, where there are no vendors at all and eliminating the competition, but I figured the chances of someone browsing through an area like that is pretty much zero.
Also luckily for me, a guy moved in next door who's been ATK spamming for the past 3 days. Unfortunately for me his new vendors names overlap mine on the overhead map, making them unreadable from certain directions, so I might have to move.
