Thread: Grinding need cheap synth cloth
Where do you get cheap synth cloth? Do I have to become a tailor and make a huge pile of it? I was quoted 4c per unit of materials to make it. I guess that is cheap but I spend all my money on harvesters right now.

Synthcloth is synthcloth now. All of it uses 20 units of resources, and all of it costs the same to the tailor. I'm afraid it seems a bit unreasonable to expect a lower price because you won't turn a profit from it. It still costs me the same amount it always does to make. That 4 credit/unit price is actually less than half of what I would charge you, and I tend towards the low and generous. :-P
My clothes retail at 10xunit, unless they're master items, in which case it's 20xunit. When I sell synthcloth, I'm selling materials that otherwise would have generated a profit for me. So a piece of synthcloth is worth 200 credits to me, meaning a crate of 25 will cost you 5000. I'm even generous and don't charge for factory usage in making it. You'll probably find it cheaper, but that's the tailor's fault, not yours. In any case, I'd be very surprised if you got it for less than 4/unit under any circumstances.

grinding synth cloth? lol, wow, hear something new every day I guess. Personally I don't know of any factory made component that I could afford to just grind up.
Factory identical synthetic cloth is required for Mabari Armorweave and some Padded.
I killed two birds with one stone and am working on both tailoring (because I love the clothes and it really is a lot of fun) and armorsmithing (because it was fun at first), though in doing that I shot myself in the foot with the Tailor/Armorsmithing bug ![]()

Yea, I had an armorsmith friend who used to beg synth cloth out of me, lol, but even so I don't think he had enough to "grind". Personally I've never "ground" (i.e. creatued in practice mode) anything with subcomponents becuase it's too time consuming. Dunno what an armorsmith's options are in terms of grindage though.
Closest thing I've gone to that is create pet vitality packs as a BE, they require 2 subcomponent, and sometimes I'll sit down and create 100 of them in a sitting, but I don't do it in practice mode because they sell for over 1k each, lol.

Synth Cloth has a going rate of 2500 for a crate of 25. This is a fair market price and is bought up often by the aspiring armorsmith. If you are on Scylla and are looking for Synthetic Cloth (2500 per crate) or Reinforced Fiber Panels (5000 per crate) then look me up and send me an e-mail.
I'm on shadowfire and these are in line with my prices (2500 for synth cloth, 4500 for reinforced panels). However I also give a 25% discount when ordering 10 crates or more at a time.
