*note: I don't post much on boards, and I am pretty new to tailor, so if anything has already been discussed, please excuse me*

I have nov tailor, and right now I would have to say it is very boaring Tailor seems to be nothing but grinding to master, as well with any other class... but there is nothing to do inbetween. Don't get me wrong, I think that the tailors are a much needed profession, however... shouldn't it be less grind centerd? I am not sure about everyone else, but I am a neutral pure crafter with no combat skills. Choosing this path seems to take all of the enjoyment from building a character. Also, on a side note, clothing is NOT (at the lower tiers... 1-2) in demand (on my server... Naritus).

For us who choose to take no combat, and do not like wasting time with delivery missions, there needs to be another alternative. The crafting missions are lame, and it takes absolutely no skill (no matter the skill level it says it is) to craft what you have to, shuttle... deliver... shuttle again, all for around 500 credits. After the mission is over, poof... the schematic is gone. Would it be a good idea to have crafting missions that actually benefit twords your crafting skills? How about say... 1/100 missions provides you with a permanent "special" or "unique" schematic? maybe crafting missions can be counted, much like the exp to next tier is... upon completion of mission 99, you get your special. This "special" or "unique" mission/schematic can be failed, and if it has been failed, back to 0 you go. I know that doesn't sound like a whole lot of fun, but doesn't it give a meaning to the crafting missions? Also what that would do is create more unique clothing to be placed in the economy, back tracking 1/100 would be too soon... but you get the idea, and it would create a use for selling or trading schematics. They took expiramentation away from clothing to limit the exp gained from crafting clothing (as far as I know from my novice eyesight), maybe these "special" garments can be expiramented on, quite possibly, to increase durribility, attempt to add aditional colors to the base (meaning next step would be 3 colors as opposed to 2), or to maybe add certain textures to the garment?

These are just a few things I have been thinking of, any input is welcome.

Um... don't grind if you don't like grinding.

Seriously. Make clothes because you enjoy making them. Sell them, find people who want to buy whole new outfits and do them up head to toe. Make yourself a new outfit every day of the week. Get a house, set up mannequins. Be creative with coming up with outfits that go together.

But, if all you can see to tailoring is grinding to master, then you probably shouldn't bother. Because when you're a master, you still probably won't much see the point... since you took pains to avoid doing the stuff that is more fun when you're a master tailor.

I've got to admit.... I had fun being a novice tailor. Seriously. There were times that I was doing delivery missions to support my resource needs (two each way netted me something like 3k per trip), but most of the time was spent socialising in the cantina, meeting people, making newer folks look great (and older ones, too -- it's hard to get a complete matched outfit from the bazaar), and building a customer base. You can generally find a niche on the bazaar that either isn't being catered to at all (when I was novice, it was uniform boots and backpacks; currently it's belts and bandoliers) from which you'll make great sales...and it really can be fun if you actually enjoy making the clothes. Finding a balance between grind and actual custom orders made all the difference for me. *grins*
