Hello Tailors:

I have a etiquette question. Scenario: I go to a vendor and find something I think I like. I pay 10-15k for it but I can't equip it or wear it, or it just doesn't look good on me. What is the best way to handle this:

  1. Send an email to the Tailor and hope they are online so I don't have to travel all the way back to their vendor to return it.

  2. Offer it to the vendor and send the creator an email regarding it and why I can't use it.

  3. Suck it up and lose the 10-15k.

  4. Find another vendor and sell it myself.

  5. Add the person to my friends list and hope to track them down as soon as they get online.

I am hoping you say option #2 is the best solution so I don't have to jump when the tailor is online and at their house.

Is that bad?

Here is an example, I can wear gloves being a Mon Calamari. I bought some long black uniform gloves (?) but I can't equip it. I can get down to my skivvies and still can't equip it. It isa bummer.

Any thoughts or other suggestions?

Option 2. Be sure to add a note to the description, and also send an email to the tailor explaining the return if he or she is not online. Any respectable tailor should refund you given that you cannot equip the items, so long as you do so immediately.

Yep, option 2 is good. A nice note in the description explaining why the return was made would be nice. I don't require an email. I usually have customers returning stuff explaining they can't equip it, andsome of themwould sell it back to my vendor for slightly lesser than they bought it.

I would take the item back at full price under reasonable circumstances.

For example, I log in and see that I sold a sports wrap 2 hours ago, but there the sports wrap is sitting in my Offers window. I observe that the buyer/seller is someone named JoeBlack. So I assume it was a guy who bought it and couldn't wear it, so sold it right back.

That's reasonable, I think.

Option 2 here as well.

I have no problem refunding upon purchasesince we lack a "fitting room" feature. And yes, send an email, b/cspeaking for myself...I do not always remember to monitor the offer tab on my vendors.

Any decent tailor should take back something that you can't equip. Be sure to list the item at what you paid for it, I have actually had people try to sell me back items for more than I charge for them!

Send the tailor an email explaining that you can't wear the item, and be sure to mention why you think you can't wear it. The tailor may not have known that your species or gender couldn't wear that schematic, and with that information hopefully they'll start adding any species or gender restrictions to their description of that type of clothing so they (and their customers) can avoid that problem in the future.

My personal return policy is that I'll re-buyanything within a day or so depending on the reason. I used to take everything back within atwo days withno questions asked, but I had two customers who were abusing my vendor bytreating it like a dressing room. They'd buy a ton of items (like 15-20 each), try them all on, then resell them and maybe keep one or two pieces. This was really discouraging partly because I had to waste time restocking all those items, and it also decreased the available selection for serious customers who showed up at my shop before I was able to log in and restock.

Obviously this wasn't what you were doing, I just mention it as an explination for why you want to email the tailor explaining the situation. Those of us who run vendors see all kinds of wacky things offered on them, most of them completely without any explaination. I've had folks offer me looted clothes at my new clothing prices, clothes by other tailors, clothes I know I made over a month ago, and more. So personally I dread getting offers on my vendor, and love when I have an email in advance letting me know why the items are up there.

Good luck!
