Thread: Master Bio-Engineer Wondering what Enhancements are Worth
Most tissues take an abnormal amount of meat and flora, for example;
Scent Neutralization
25 Flowers
20 Creature Food
20 Flora Structural
15 Avian Bones
Active Biosensors
25 Insect Meat
25 Flora Structural
20 Creature Food
10 Wild Meat
What should I be charging for these items?
I'm thinking 2-3k each. Is that unreasonable for high quality stuff?
Most componants stats rely equaly on;
Overall Quality - 33%
Flavor - 33%
Potential Energy - 33%
The best thing you can do is work with a tailor that you trust and provide them with the materials and see how much the clothes bring in as a whole and profit share. Of course you'll want to start with rediculously high prices on this stuff and see how far it tapers down before you decide on a price.
The creature parts are especially difficult to get in good qualities & quantities. These items last forever, and are very difficult to make in high-quality (and there aren't very many BE's left). Seeing how people price them should be interesting...
I get them free too at the moment. But with the demand I see coming post-patch, I will insist on paying her.
The profit-sharing is a good idea to think about.
My planned pricing for BE clothing items is clothing price + 500 credits per +1 skill mod for the more easily made BE tissues. So 2-3k per tissues about falls in line, that would be about 50-50 for BE and tailor for say a +10 or +11 tissue.
Not sure what I will charge for the rarer tissues (that need milk/eggs/seafood, what have you),Likely I will initially start at 1-1.5k per +1 skill mod and see what BEs start charging for them (if they can make them in the first place).
Well.. thanks for the advise..
I've decided to charge 1k/per and she is going to enhance any clothes I need for my PA and sales for free.
My mods are all high quality +13 or more
The future scenario:
Mods stack. People rush to me to buy an exquisitely made flight suit or grand twilek head piece with +20 healing, +20 dance healing and +20 creature taming. As mods have stacked, I was able to use multiple lower strength mods (made by mid level BE) to reach the maximum value. As a master BE, your contribution was significant, but it was my ability to make the high end multi stacking garments that added the most value to the final product. I'd pay you 50% of sale price.
The current scenario:
Mods don't stack. This means the enhancement will be the net effect of a single mod. This in turn means the only mods worth using will come from a master BE as the lower level mods are basically crap. Imagine selling a garment with +3 versus +10? No comparison. The other situation with non-stacking mods is that in terms of functionilty, any garment worth producing can be done with little more than novice tailor with level 2 fieldwear. So,as a master BE, you're contribution to the effectiveness of the modified garment in this instance was more critical. In this case, I would pay you a lot more than half the value.
My BE clothing is selling in pre-orders between $15K-$40K, nd am paying my BE 80% of this. So, up to $32K per mod.
I suggest finding a tailor who you can profit share with. Or spend the points, if you have them, and grind to novice tailor and sell the products yourself. I tried BE and can tell you that finding fibreplast and steel is a lot easier than meat to grind.
Hope that helps.
As a customer I think the price I was charged is fair: 13K for +25 total bonus on two tissues (2 +13s at 6500 each)
I have two characters a brawler and a medic and would cheerfully pay this for what is actually quite a large bonus which lasts forever
I'd want to pay the tailor at least 5K too for each piece of clothing assembled
