Thread: Skill Clothing Bug (seeking workaround)

Greetings,

I purchased some pants that are +25 Medicine Use, +25 Injury Treatment, and +25 Wound Treatment and a shirt that is +13 Medicine Use, +13 Injury Treatment, and +13 Wound Treatment last night. Everything was working great, then I logged off. It seems that they no longer give me the stats. I traded them to a friend and he equipped them without a problem. They gave him +38 in each of those categories. I can equip them, they just don't increase my stats.

I've tried: trading them and trading back, dropping them in a house, putting them in a backpack, putting them in a backpack in a house, dropping them and logging out, dropping them, logging out, and exiting the program completely, unequipping all of my other clothes except the shirt and pants.

This bug is incredibly annoying, does anyone know any workarounds? Is this bug already known?

Thanks in advance for any help!

This bug is known.

This bug has been around since the game went live.

The official CSR workaround is as follows:

Unequip the clothing, log out for 15 minutes (long enough for your character with the LD symbol over his head to vanish from the world). Log back in. Your stats will be normal.

To prevent this from happening again, be sure to unequip the items before logging out.

I'm headed to bed anyway, so I'll log in quick and remove the clothes. Hope this works! If so, you're definitely a life saver!

Ok, I can equip the clothes and and the skills get applied, but I still can't use Stim Cs. My Medicine Use skill is a modified 58, and the req'd level is 33. Is this also a bug?

I'm getting pretty frustrated finding all these new things to play with and finding out they're bugged after I pay for them. Skill Clothing: 45k credits; Imperial Cap: 140 faction points (which seemed like a big deal at the time).

If I'm not mistaken, they're removing Medicine Use from enhanced clothing soon, and it never actually worked in the way you are trying to use it (i.e., gaining skill levels without actually training in the skill).

I don't suppose they plan on giving me back the 45k I spent on the items, huh? Anyway, thanks for the information.

I wouldn't even bother with those atm, it should be fixed soon. Except the medicine enhancements that will be removed (and will never work on the existant pieces).

Well it never hurts to ask, but don't count on it. Some people selling clothes with buggy bonuses seem to genuinely not know that they don't work, and if the person you got them from is in that category you may be able to get a refund.

Many of us tailors refused to sell stat bonus clothing at all because of the bug problems. Personally, I didn't want to tell my customers "these don't work, but maybe they will in the future, give me lots of credits anyway." But there do seem to be plenty of people who know that the clothes are bugged but keep selling them, at superhigh prices, just because they can.

Good luck!

Clothing with Medicine Use and Business Acumen modifiers will be considered collector's items in the future, worth a great deal more than what was originally charged for them.

Maybe not a rip-off after all, eh?
