well ive restarted on farstar recently and intend to go tailor here aswell 
have started my grind and noticed something different this time (given its been 10 months since i grind tailor so it may be its a change done since then or i just didnt notice it)
My exp goes up over time, even when not grinding, but aslong as im online just a little extra 50 exp now and then.
Im not wearing any clothes i made myself, and i dont think ive given or sold any so dont think its user exp (but i do have some in my inventory i made but not worn)
just wondered what this was about

Well, I do know that if your grinding items in practice mode, you get the initial shot of xp when you complete the item, then a little more xp when your tool finishes counting down and completes. Maybe thats what your seeing.

yup that was it, guess i just never noticed this last time, or it was added since i last did it
