Well my Ahazi character is finally a master tailor. After I found a good macro, I just spent a week of casual grinding and made it through yesterday evening. I was 2 boxes away and I just ground it out and finished. Now, having spent my 1 Million+ on petrochemical and armor (for my tka training), I must start my store soon. I hope to have a nice tailor shop running, maybe specializing in battle gear, like paramilitary stuff.

Of course Imust balance my time him with my main on Corbantis.

Congrats D

I have also recently mastered Tailor as well and have set up a vendor, not sure on what to sell at the moment though as the only stuff that seems to go are crates of synthetic cloth or loot items that I sell cheap.

P.S.
Whats ths going rate for amrour padding on Bria?

I opened my store this afternoon before logging. Not much, but it is something. I have the big bulky refrigerator-sized vendor machine with at least 15 items on it, just to test the water, and I am going to make some more stuff to plunk into it tomorrow.

One question, should i keep the item's default crafted name (i.e. Vested Jacket) and then add a personal tag (i.e. -By Valkk), or should I make up my own version of the name (i.e. Hoth WhiteVested Jacket- By Valkk).

And I hope to make a nice line of Faux Jedi Uniforms (i.e. brown cloaks, tan pants/shirts, boots) and some space-oriented flightsuits and transports suits, like my Corellian Pilot Jacket,a light tan/gray coloration of the Pilot Jacket.

I think it helps customers in general to have as full a description of each item as possible, and it never hurts to add your name either. Nowadays if I'm stocking one of my vendors then I'm there for acouple ofhours and writing a description for every item and even adding my name gets very monotonous and generallyslows down the whole process... kudos to any tailor who keeps a well stocked vendor and describes every item, that would be quite an acheivement in my eyes.

The names just help me in being a tailor. More personal than the same old 'Ribbed shirt' or 'Paneled Boots'.

I'm hoping to get ahold of a target market in SWG. I know that some female tailors focus solely on female clothing (dresses, skirts, dancer stuff) and some even use garish or bright colors to emphasize. I can't count the number of shops with purple hotpants, its disturbing hehe. So, i'll focus on simple colors, earthy tones, paramilitary and casual wear, with the formal wear and the female/dancer items coming in mainly as special order or limited stock. I'm trying to cover the other end of the buyer spectrum.

Another question, should I go and decorate my house with outfits (the typical tailor shop setup)? And should I try and get the humanoid vendors or can i stick with my master artisan level vendors (Bulky and Droid vendors)? I don't have the sp to go all out in merchant. Should I get a merchant to place a tent and transfer it to me for a shop?

thanks

Personally I hate the vendor tents. They are small.. they are ugly. But that's me. The only upside would be if you don't have Advertising 3 everyone knows there is a vendor in a tent, where they might not in a house.

You have so much more room in a real shop house for displays and what not. Of course I don't as all my resources are in my house and my main vendor is in a mall. /shrug I don't think it's really hurt business however I can't display some great outfits.

As for your vendor looks, I would say that's up to you. If you don't have the sp then don't worry about it. I know my eye catches an NPC vendor before the machines but that's because I didn't know the machines were vendors for a long while.Personally the advertising tree is more important, located on the planetary map really helps business.
