Do you think it would be a valid idea to require tailors to experiment clothing to create colors? For example, without experimentation, they can create all the colors they can right now (maybe fewer for balance, I'm notsure). Then, they can experiment the color of the clothing. As the quality of the clothing goes up, you get access to more colors.
Currently, if this were the only thing experimentable, it is somewhat a moot point. However, if the implement other things to experiment (sockets, durability, etc), it would be another parameter to keep in mind. A person can get a durable shirt, a high-socket functional shirt, or one which looks good.
Until that time though, it would give tailors something to do with their experimentation points.

Needing medium/high quality resources just to get the better colour options?
Also this would slow us down even more. For a profession where the vast majority of items are hand crafted an experimentation stage pureply for colours would just be a pain IMO.
