Thread: An idea concerning protective clothing

I have been rolling this idea around in my head since the addition of the padding segments that were added to tailors along with the introduction of the wookie armor. With the introduction of the Jedi Robe (I know we won't be making anything like them) it would be nice to see Tailor craftable protective clothing.

The idea is that by using the current tailor experimentation points that are now only being used for the padding, we create a new protective cloth type segment that can be used in a few items (feild wear mostly and perhaps bodysuits). Say These segments then could be experimented on to increase the protective traits and added to the clothing item in a similar way that armor is crafted. Perhaps an option to add an armorsmith layer to further increase a specific resistance.

This type of product would have no armor rating but still have a HAM cost and a higher (via experiment?) condition. There would have to be some items that are vulnerable to certian types of damage, and the protections capped at a lower number than most armors offer (maybe until master tailor).

I realize that something like this is very far fetched, and I'm not asking for it, it's simply a "what if" I've had in my noggin for a while and wanted to open it up for discussion. I also don't want to give the impression that anything should be taken away from armorsmiths, I have nothing but respect for armorsmiths, almost every one I've met has been incredibly dedicated, personable and blessed with glacial patience. The purpose of this idea is to open an avenue for tailors that wish to do it, an alternate approach to the craft, an oppratunity to advance our profession in a new way.

What about the packs as well, it seems that there is no point in having different types of packs.
