Thread: Are the high bonuses worth it?

I'm the merchant end of a relationship with a BE who hates dealing with customers. I senta request for some high bonus new tailor tissues and he responded with a few crates of +19 Pathway Agents and +18 Fear Release. I was told that the resources to make these are pretty uncommon and he wouldn't make more of them without a good price.

I know that pricing is server specific, I'm not here to ask for that info. What I am asking about it demand. I know that tailors normally aren't awash in money, at least not from their tailoring. But I also see that all of the post-CU tissues fit into RFPs and that Wookies have a single item that can take these tissues.

I know that +13 is largely desired due to reduced resource requirements and the ability to hit the +25 clothing cap. Is there enough of a demand for +18/+19 items, I guess from Wookies, to warrant the price that would be needed to account for server-best resources being used?

I looked a few pages back and didn't see anything that related. I apologize if I missed something, please feel free to direct me to the relevant info.

in my experience, even when people are fully aware of the +25 cap there are still folks who would pay extra to get clothing with high end tissues. some folks wear armor and only wants a shirt underneath, they're wookiees, they can't wear bandoliers because they need a backpack, they just feel better with the *best* stuff, etc.

as far as I remember those are the healing efficiency and TN/UD tissues? they've both been selling well post CU. I also offer defense items, and my sales are mostly defense, then TN/UD, then healing. I say order some if you have the cash, but get some +13s or so too

Here's my experience with selling tissues to tailors, and as a tailor selling clothing to customers:

Selling Tissues to Tailors:

For the tissues that go into synthetic cloth, tailors want 2 different qualities of tissues:

Some inexpensive +13 tissues, and some tissues that are at least +17. If you offer +13, +14, +15, +16, and +17 tissues, and price them on some kind of scale based on bonus, I guarantee you that the only ones you'll ever sell are the +13's and the +17's, they'll turn their noses up at the rest of them. Note that for some reason I'd sell more +17's than +13's, which is counter-intuitive. Probably like 60% +17's and 40% +13's. This is odd because for myself as a tailor, I probably use up about 75% +13's and 25% +17's, so I dunno what the deal is with that disconnect.

For tissues that go into reinforce fiber panel, it's all about "highest possible bonus". Again, if you offer +13 - +17, you'll sell only the +17's and the +13's, but in the case of RFP tissues, 95%+ of your sales will be from the +17's and 5% of the +13's.

As far as the "tailors aren't awash in money" thing, that can be true. But what I saw in terms of buying behavior there was that some tailors would buy up your "half crates" of "quarter crates" that you have for sale. A 10-crate of tensile resistance, a 5-crate of active bio sensors etc, but they'd *still* buy them at the highest values you had. Then a week later they'd come back and buy more, possibly full crates, then some weeks later they'd be back to buy you out, lol.

Selling Bio-Clothing

When doing a custom order, the first question you always get asked is "what is the best you can make?", then other questions follow. Occasionally you'll find a customer that is knowledgeable about the +25 cap, but generally not, and usually the attitude is "give me the highest possible cumulative bonus just in case". Often times when I answer that question, telling them that I can give them something +17 or +18 the next question is "can't you do better?".

So selling someone a duster and cammos that each have +13 mask scent in them is often seen as "low quality work" (which implies it was made by a "low quality tailor") even though it is effecient in terms of maximizing the bonuses that the customer wants.

The exception to that of course is when you are able to make a +25 item using some +13's, but those are going the way of the dodo bird anyway, because quite frankly the bonuses that go into synthetic cloth sell very very poorly now post-cu. They really botched that big-time imo.

The other exception to that is bazar-selling. Everything sells on the bazar. +6 sells, +10 sells, +13 sells, +17 sells, it all sells.

heh it depends on your server, on mine .. i will have 1 person buy a bando, jacket, shirt, pants with all one mod on it ... and i inform them about the cap ... they respond "it works for me" ... so i just let them go ... and stock some more on the vendor ...

i have a few crates now of some +19 ud/tn and melee/ranged ... that i have set off to the side ... saving it mostly for wookiees that request something high .. since they got the short end of the stick for RFP clothing ... ( i do so hope they change the enhancements and RFP / SC stuff soon) ...

when i did have a few different maxes up on my vendor at different prices .. the ones with highest stats always ended up selling first .. no matter the price (and yes some was priced over 150k for a peice ... still cant beleive someone would pay that much but oh well )
