Thread: Aesthetic Proposition: Costume Armor Clothing (A New Market for Tailors)

I play a Jedi and have been suffering under the issues of clothing, armor and jammies for a little while. Recent discussions concerning the matter have lead me to an idea I think would solve many problems with people's desires for more interesting apparel.

What I want to see is the ability to wear clothes that look like armor; nothing more. I want to wear an outfit made by a tailor, with sockets, which is actually clothing that looks like my favorite armor.

What would the interest be in this? I thought it might gain interest from Tailorssince it would open up a whole new market for you, and would be simple to implement with the existing palletes and graphics.

Basic clothing units that work exactly like armor, but are socketed clothing. Ideas? Opinions? Comments?

We used to be able to make outfits including fashion armor before the CU. (Partnering with an Armorsmith of course.) What I'd like to see is some way for armorsmiths to craft armor without any protections, etc. Armor without protections wouldn't need a certification, so anyone could wear it.

Was this fashion armor socketed, like clothing? Or could it be made that way? And what happened to it?

Would this be the same thing as, say, someone wearing a fashion suit of composite, or am I misunderstanding?

hehe I just mean that before, we could use armor in our fashions. With the CU and armor certifications, we can't really do this anymore. It wasn't special armor or anything, just you everyday armor, but anyone could wear it.

sign me up. 'm totally for this idea. i know my armorsmith guildmates had people asking for full suits of padded armor with crap stats just for the sake of fashion. to me, this would be a major market for both tailors and armorsmiths.

i wouldnt want to take anything armor related away from armorsmiths, even if it was for the sake of fashion. i just want to be able to wear armor pieces again to compliment my sense of style. as far as coming up with a craftable solution to the idea, my ideas are getting way to complicated. really it should just come down to armorsmiths being able to make armor with ZERO protective stats that haven't any level of certification.

give them a checkbox (like you can select 'practice mode') for something like 'armor shell only' and insert materials.

has our corrospondent spoken to the armorsmith corrospondent about this idea/issue? might be nice to work together. ^_^

i would wrather see them come out with some more clothign styles that include armored/rugged looks to them .. but not be identical to the armor skins that armorsmiths can craft right now ...

Ah, I see.

What I am looking for is the opportunity for a tailor to make clothing components that look like armor, but are not.

I have discovered that my set of crap Marauder armor which I wear when not grinding Jedi xp is beautiful and detailed, and fits very much my Ronin concept of a Jedi in exile. I would love to be able to wield my saber in such an outfit, and would love to buy many such outfits with sockets.

What would you think of such a prospect? You would make each component seperately like armor, but be able to customize and socket like clothing. It would offer no protection, just like normal clothing, but all Jedi would have a new variety of aesthetics to help them blend in while appearing distinct at the same time.

Obviously this wouldn't work for rigid armor types like stormtrooper armors, katarn armor or composite, but those which seem to integrate tailoring like marauder or padded.

I thought that since it would not be armor, but simply appear as armor, that it would be a better idea and market for Tailors. For those of us who prefer militant looks, this would be a great way to expand that need for Tailors without simply creating absurd requirements like impractical and insensible reliance upon other professions.

i hear you totally. i just want to get some opinions from armorsmith's on the matter. 'm still interested if the armorsmith corrospondent has discussed anything with our corrospondent. i do believe any change regarding the aesthetics of armor in terms of fashion needs to be talked about with the armorsmiths, and then a proposal submitted to the developers. this is something i REALLY want to see happen.

I really like this idea. In fact I thought of it myself when I found I couldn't wear my beloved Mabari helmet anymore because of the CU.
