Thread: Clothing Schematics Pricing Spreadsheet v1.1
Sorry for the delay (I had promised this for the weekend), but I needed to find a place to upload this.
Anyway, I've completed my clothing schematics spreadsheet and have put it online for my fellow tailors to download and use:
Clothing Schematics Pricing Spreadsheet v1.1
The idea is very similar to what FamousJaney did with her spreadsheet (most of the changes from v1.0 to v1.1 are from seeing her excellent work). Put the prices per resource in one sheet, some other variables in another one, and it'll spit out a price calculation for all clothing schematics. Detailed instructions on how to use it are included.
Note that all sheets have been password protected. This for two reasons: so that you can't accidentally change any of the values like resource cost and such. And that when there is something that does need to be changed it'll increase the likelihood that you'll let me know so I can make the changes, meaning all the tailoring community will benefit from it. ![]()
Of course you can still set your own prices. All the cells with a white background have been left unprotected so you can change them as much as you want to get the prices you think are fair.
On that note, I'll now likely get flamed for how low people think my prices are (I've left my values in there as an example). But when you're done flaming and scolding me I'd like to hear your suggestions. What values would you use to get your prices? And how can I improve the calculations to get fairer prices? Any constructive input would be greatly appreciated. ![]()
Note that I've taken the values from Blight's Guide to Tailoring, which was written during beta (and also the source for the values at SWGCraft.com). As such it might contain error in the requirements and such. If you find any then please let me know and I'll update the document. Also, if you want the password for removing the protection then drop me a message stating why and promising to keep me updated of changes you make and I'll give it to you. ![]()
I'll also see if I can work together with FamousJaney to concentrate our efforts.
Please, use wisely. ![]()

**edit**, link didn't work.
(This board needs some serious work in that regard)
Anyway, here it is:

The usefulness of this is severely limited by your password protecting it. You could have locked certain cells rather than password entire sheets if you just wanted to prevent people from messing up their own copies of it.
Just the inability to sort is crippling. If I'm looking up the prices for what pants I can make now I have to know the name and the skill level of each type in order to find them, and they'll be spread out all over?
Good work, just not very useable. Sorry.

How? Really, I've looked for this but it didn't seem possible. It's the entire sheet with some cells unlocked or not at all. And seeing as there's a sorted list in the "Prices" sheet I didn't really think people would need to sort it.
But then again, you're probably right. Tonight I'll upload a version that still has all the sheet protected, just without a password so that people can remove it and edit it to their heart's content.
In the interim, the password for unlocking the sheets is "tailor". With my apologies for this protection experiment.
Ah well, live and learn. ![]()

Ok, I uploaded version 1.11 which has the password removed from the sheet protection.
If anyone has any advice on how to do the protection thing better I'd love to hear it. ![]()
Let me know what you think. And again my apologies for the mistake.

Why do you feel the need to protect the cells/sheets anyway? If someone messes it up they can always download it again.
Bridik
if you really want to protect it from people messing up the cells save it to a pdf.
if you dont have the software give me your email and i will send it to you.
Ignore my last post, i cant print it to pdf because it is not a standard format.
but its a nice file for pricing,

I thought I explained that already. That was basically for two reasons.
First, as an aid to people, preventing them from messing up. The tool is there, so why not use it?
Second, it was pw-protected to encourage people to send their corrections to me. That bit has now been taken out, so I hope that people will still send me their corrections regardless.
I still think the protection is valid. If people want to do without it they can simply remove it. But really, there shouldn't be any reason to do so. All you should have to change are the white-background cells. Only bad thing is that things like sorting and filtering don't work with the protection on and hence I removed the pw for those that feel they want to do that.
Anyway, thanks for looking at it and thanks for the comments.

I gotta add my 2 creds concerning your pricing as well...
You are a master tailor. That means Robes of Honor, Flighsuits, clothing for the "working girl" out there. These are very nice items, and it takes a lot of dedication to get to the skill level to make them. Why then, why, why, why, would you sell master tailor clothing items for thecreds that a newbie could make in 1 mission, within his very first hour of playing SWG? I'm not going to tell you my prices, but they are much higher than your spreadsheet here, and if I had any more customers, I would have to quit my real job just to keep up with the orders.
Think of it this way. You open up a shop East of Coronet and stock it with your master tailor items. As a customer, I fly into Coronet, take 2 missions East and complete them prior to shopping in your store. I have now made enough money in 10 minutes to buy 2 of your master items that take hours of factory work to complete.
We all have to stop thinking in terms of how much resource it takes to make items, and quit basing our prices on this. Base your prices on supply/demand. A cloak and a double robe use the very same schematic. Can you get more for a cloak? Of course you can. Don't sell yourselves short. For the prices on this sheet, I would hireyou to grind these out in my shop, and buy as much as you can make in a day's time. ![]()
As far as the spreadsheet itself goes...very nice work!
