Thread: Anyone else rename clothes to form matching sets?

Normally I never renamed items other than to add my name to the end like "Reinforced Jacket by Sundra" to avoid confusion.

But there has been a surge of demand for Imperial Fleet style clothes on my server (Starsider). So I have been making matching sets of Long Dress Uniform, Dress Slacks, Uniform Boots and Link Steel Gloves and making them black and grey and then renaming them "Imperial Fleet Uniform Jacket" , etc.

This has been going over great with my customers since it makes it easier for them to find it since most non-tailors havent a clue on names.

Anyone else do this?

Sounds like a pretty cool idea. Normally I'd refrain from renaming items (except for adding crafter names, as you said), but for items that naturally go together, it's a pretty cool idea (and now that examination will show the original name, there's less chance of confusion).

Heh, I just said "pretty cool idea" twice in a row. That doesn't read very well.

...well, it is a pretty cool idea.

I try not to remove the name of the item, but I might add customization like "Hank's Dress Uniform Jacket" to give the customer more feelings that this was made specifically for them. "Band" always gets changed to something like "Susan's Wedding Ring", Jack's Platinum Ring", etc. The reason people buy clothes is to stick out and be unique. Naming them like this is adding to that feeling.

I have, it seems to make things stand out easier....now I need to figure out how to color the text so that really jumps out at people!

Yes i have whole collections of items that I call different names a few of my collections are.

Battle of Hoth

Sand Gear

Han Solo Outfit

Imperial Outfit

Rebel Grey Outfit

Endor Green Outfit

and so on

I have about 20 odd collections most on display in my store. They are taken from clothes in the films I select the type of items and the colours to match and name them.

I guess some people might take it the wrong way but I have never had a bad comment yet in fact people find it most help and I do sell a lot of complete collections becuase I have taken to the time to make sure they match.

I do have loads of pics of the collections I might put them on a web page on day
