Just curious...

I noticed that a crafting tool is a required component in the Crafter's Arpon. Does wearing the apron negate the need for that specific crafting tool since one is built into the apron?

Nope, you still have to use your clothing tool.

That was the first thing I asked the doc I made one for—answer is "the crafting tool is just a component, it doesn't do anything once the garment is assembled."

If it was a crafting station like in my droid then that would be another matter...no droid required...always full schematic list available. I'd make myself a tailor one rather than just the medic ones up till now.

Ya know... THAT would have been a great idea to add to the aprons! Would really make them more popular I think.
