That's right.....WOOT for me ! Yes...it took quite a good amount of effort, but what a great profession !

After slaying the world as a Master Commando I have decided to jump into the world of crafting.Just

made Master Tailor and am now venturing into the world of Bio-clothes.....gasp......

I've lurked these posts.....read through SWGCraft's links......but still have a basic question....real basic...

and now feel I can confidently post with my degree from the Jawa Correspondence School of Tailoring

Arts sitting behind my desk and next to my Mon Calamari Eye painting.

A customer asked me for "socketed clothing". Now....I have read and read and understand the mechanics

of Bio-wear. BUT if a Tailor makes a clothing item (Bio or not)....isn't it automatically socketed so a player

can drop some skill tapes into it ? I understand the 25 pt maximum....but plain ol' "socketed" befuddles me.

Thanks for humoring your newest member of the Master Tailor Union ! And here's a funny you would all

appreciate....the minute I make Master.....I received 10 e-mails within 1/2 hour for armor padding ! I guess

the "Master" really does grab attention !

Thanks folks.

Good Job!!!

On the subject of sockets, they just happen... At master I got 4 sockets on almost every item I made up until yesterday. It seems that with the patch yesterday I'm getting only 2-3 on most everything I craft.

I have been a tailor since august and I love it. Congratz on getting master

It seems to me that sockets in clothing are just as random as a smuggler's slices. There are some times where I will make 2 or 3 outfits with 4 sockets in each item, but then there are those times where the items i make only have 2 or 3. It is probably a very small % that you will get below 4 sockets at master.

Small % of getting 4 sockets??? You haven't been making clothes recently. As of Tuesday, it's rare for a master to get 4 sockets now. About 50% chance of getting 2 sockets, 25% to get 3 sockets, and equal chance to get 1 or 4 socket. It's broken after the wookie armour experimentation code was added

Yup...I see now. It is random.....and my newer items do seem to have less sockets like everyone has said. Thanks for the assist !

I have noticed that the quality of materials *seems* to make a difference in getting 4 sockets. I think, however, this is also random...or at least it has something to do with the assembly roll. If I have an assembly roll that is great or amazing then I will almost always have a 4 socketed item. Please note the almost part of that last sentence. So it seems that higher quality material will give you a better *chance* of having more sockets.

Some items just don't socket well, however. I've not really made a list of them because sockets are just something we can not control. If we could all items would always have four sockets!

This is one of those things that I think needs work. The random generator causes failures when no failure should be possible and fewer sockets when a master tailor, using high quality materials, should be able to place as many sockets as are possible in an item. Its not just tailors that are affected though, but I think we are perhaps more helpless than others since we do not have the option to experiment on our clothing (not that experimentation helps sockets, but I think it should).

I've read in the tailor forums that tailors don't pay a lot of attention to the materials they use, but I always have. I suppose that is because I was a tailor before the experimentation changes. I think that quality of materials probably does affect how frequently we fail on an assembly. This is all conjecture, but I can tell you that when I do bio engineered clothing I always use the highest possible quality I can find. I have seen fewer failures doing that. Maybe someone more number oriented than I am could shed some light on that.

Sockets are simply random right now. I have a lot of really bad materials (OQ less than 100) and a lot of really good materials (OQ greater than 900) and I see no difference. I also get 1 or 0 sockets when I have an amazing success on assembly or sometimes 4 sockets with a moderate success.

I made a run of 25 Military Packs not Factory just wanted to do myself...All using same material, 19 no socket, 3 with 2 sockets and the rest 1 socket.
