An entertainer came up to me yesterday and asked me to make him something that looked really stupid. So I made a hot pink and purple swoop helm. It was the most fun I had in a long time!

Well consider this - if the retroactive color swap happened with the swoop, it will happen if the palette is changed to the 255 for all items, as we have been requesting. Are we okay with old items turning colors and needing to be redone? Will the players be okay with that? Is there a way to have old articles retain their hue?

Most likely not. It looks like instead of storing the item's color, they just give it a color index number. If the color that corresponds to that index number changes, the color of the item will change. I think that this is what happened when they changed the palette for composite armor and their solution was to allow people to "temporarily" change the color of their composite armor from the radial menu. That "temporary" change is still there half a year later. We should be very careful about how we ask for new colors or changes to the palettes. Replacing an unpopular color with a different color is probably OK, but expanding or replacing palettes could lead to unintended consequences which we don't want.

I think I would be ok with it. It's a small price to pay to have more customization in the long run. Maybe they could do a few pieces at a time, to make things easier to replace and less overwhelming. The only thing I can see causing a big stir would be clothing that has attachments in it.

Well consider this: you know how the ID changes went in - they added new colors at the END of the palettes, so the original palettes remained intact (and therefore the characters also remained the same color.

How would that work for you - to tack on 255 colors at the end of the crappy palettes?

Its not the change in colors that bothers me. It is the fact that this problem has happened before with composite armor and their solution was to just let people color their own armor whenever they felt like it. This was supposed to be a temporary thing, but like a lot of things in SWG, it became permanent. I am pretty sure that most tailors who tailor as their primary profession do *not* want everyone to be able to recolor their clothes whenever they feel like it. I would want some assurance that this would not happen before taking the risk of expanding the palettes.

This would work as long as it was done carefully! I would like to see them reorganize the palette for the swoop helm first as a test to see how it works before it was done to everything.

Palette changes effects already cooking schematics in factories... Old swoop helms when in white, turns into pink, yes, pale pink.

Yes, the good point was, that it left all colors as they were... the downside is that the palettes are now so... how should I name it... chaotic maybe... that it's sometimes not easy to find the color you want or need.... I wished they could rearange those palettes without mixing up all those colors for both ID and Tailors (and other crafters as well)

Wait doesn't fit swg universe? Color is the universe...no matter what where or when nature has every color somewhere even if we cant see it..

Bring on the flourescent!I want Neons..and pastels...I say turn everything white and lets start fresh!

personally a very small pallette on everything would work for me

Do

red orange yellow green blue purple

Then 3 shades of each lighter hue, 3 shades darker hue

one row of them in flourescent, one in pastel

light tan to dark choc in a row of 6

white to black in a row of 6

66 colors in all

have it apply to all clothes

then give us a clicky option of what material we want

Leather, wool, cotton, silk, mylar (what I call the new Ithorian sleekness)
