Thread: Unable to start crafting session(bug)

Was doing the usual grind of crafting ribbed shirts, when all of a sudden I get the typical message,

'Starting Crafting Session...'

then.

'Unable to start crafting session'

----------

I checked my message box, and there wasn't any item in any of the crafting tools that hadn't been removed.

----------

So, I checked to see if I could still use my general crafting tool, and I get the same message. Ok, so maybe there is a bug here, and I just need to logout and log back in. I log out, and then in again. Same!

Very strange -- crafting just stops working entirely.

Final test -- exit Starwars Galaxies entirely, reboot my pc, restart Galaxies and retry the crafting again -- Success!

So -- there is some underlying bug that is causing the crafting to completely stop working. Not sure if this has to do with some communication to the server that gets blocked, but it seems pretty likely that something is preventing me from reaching the crafting screens.

Has anyone else seen this one?

type /end crafting session ---I think that is the manual command(or soemthing close to that...I don't remember now but I've had the same thing happen to me). Basically it thinks you are still crafting/have a crafting tool open.

Did you LD, crash, or get attacked while crafting?

The magic command is /stopcrafting. I get this error fairly often, usually when crafting and running at the same time.

sometimes /stopcrafting or /stopcraftingsession doesn't work for me. I have to log completely out, reboot and then it's fine.

this used to happen to me alot when I was grinding. When I had all my crafting station hotkeys on my Fbar, and I would hit two at the same time, it would happen every time.

I just relogged when it happened though, never knew about /stopcrafting *doh!*

I guess trying all of the above is a good idea.. the first time I got the error I did everything from rebooting to destroying my crafting tools and buying new onces. Luckily I was able to find about /stopcrafting from this forum or I would have been out buying a new computer trying to fix the problem. :-)

Ive had this bug twice now in the past few days and it never fixed itself for me until after a server reboot :/ luckily theserver crashed an hour or so after each time this happened (err luckily the game crashed, never thought I would say that). I tried logging in and out with /quit and /logout.. didnt try to reboot my computer though, and thanks for the tip about /stopcrafting didnt know that either

Wow.. thanks for the great info. I'll definately try the /stopcrafting option.

I don't feel so alone knowing that i'm not the only one having this kind of problem with crafting...

during my time grinding, i'd either get this error (didn't know about /stopcrafting til recently) or all input would stop being tracked. by this i mean all keystrokes or mouse clicksthat caused me to do anything other than the default option, would be completely ignored.

i could double click on things and examine them, but i'd be stuck running in the direction i was facing. at least the mouse movement input was still being tracked so i didn't go running off into the desert, but it would take me mashing the keys like a spaz to get it back. anyone else run into this one?
