I am still having trouble finding something to base pricing on. The resources keep shifting some items need more then that. Would anyone share their picing guide with me?

I seen one person suggest:
Novice and under 300
Level 1 1500
level 2 2000
level 3 2500
level 4 3000
Master 5000-10000 depending on the piece..

what do you think..you people are the experts

I don't price by level (in general) but rather by clothing category and popularity.

For example ... I sell all boots, belts and gloves for 1000 credits .... I sell all cloaks for 2500 ... Most jackets are 1500 except for the popular ones like the Dress Uniform at 2500 ... etc.

I know that doesn't help you much but it was just too complicated to keep so many different price structures.

There used to be a spreadsheet floating around on these forums. It may have been lost into the abyss though.

Personally,I use:

raw materials * complexity

I'm thinkingof revising this though. It seems that the economy on my server is in a bit of a slump. I'm trying to hang in there, but my bank account has dwindled by over 400k in credits over the past week or so. Deflation is bad for the economy, but is a necessary evil when a merchant can't sell anything.

I am a big fan of this tool:

http://zachary.org/swg/

Like was already said by Ben it is all relative.

I personally use a 6c per resource formula with tweaking.

For example using this method a Cloak would sell for 660 credits. however on my server (Wanderhome) most tailors sell these for well above 2k. I sell mine for 1.8k I foudn that through trial and error tha tthe market demand is high for thsi item, and that my effort in gettign hides or paying for them increases my investment. Sadly the above site does not allow me to charge more for items using hides than minerals and chemicals. That is my one complaint. Go to ANY Bazaar and you will see most resources at 3c per, hides however are MUCH more than that on average I find around 5c -10c per on average where I am lookign anyway. So to me HIDES clearly should be seperate.

Anyway. I say do whatever you are comfortable with, usingthe above system also note I never accept less than 350 credits for any item. Novice or not it is my time and effort I feel is worth at least 300c, if not I can run missions myself to maek money. I like to make the cloths, I just don't like to throw away my time.

Just my opinion.

Also note in the above example my Tarder's Flightsuit would sell for around 7,700c. Personally I will price mine at 7-7.5k as that is what I have seen in the more popular shops on the server adn I wish to respect that and stay in line with the current standards.

I use Nivea's pricing guide for 90% of my items and love it. I have a few that are more and a few that I sell for less but that's just becasue I was selling those before her website was going. The pricing I am having problems with is for the bio eng stuff. Been making some lately and I'm still working on a pricing plan. Thansk again for the website Nivea, it's always on my second computer when I am stocking the vendors!

I use the pricing guide as well, basically the Master Tailor items are between 3 and 9k at my shop (3k for bikinis etc)... Some people can say I am cheap but well I have seen people sell master items at 8k max on my server, with the suits at 7k, and I price mine above that, but yesI am part of the people who think that asking 15k for some items is a rip off. And mostly I do this because I enjoy it, not to make money, as I have 200k sitting in bank doing nothing at the moment.

Here's my pricelist...

http://imp.uow.edu.au/staff/feen/swg/feens_tailor_prices.html

a few items prices have changed a little since i made this list and i can now make a lot more items than what are bolded as makable by me in this list ...

It also has niveas prices in the same list for comparison

My prices are derived by a cost per resource + a tier modifier of
-50 Dom arts
0 Novice
+100 I
+500 II
+1000 III
+2000 IV
+4000 Master

and then some arbitrary scaling up & down based on how much i like the item etc

(warm hats are out of whack from my resource costs since i sell them cheap as fez hats as a special promo and ive upped patterned padded wookiee gloves to 1k to be more expensive than plain padded wook gloves which i dropped to 900 as opposed to what is on this list)

As has been said above, pricing is very relative -- and in general, I price according to a very basic cost of resources system, and the popularity of the product. There are things that I could make at tier III of Field Wear that I could not have possibly sold for the 2000 mentioned here and there; there were also several things in the same tier that went very swiftly for over 3000, and with customers coming back for seconds and thirds in differing shades.

The cloak, as mentioned above, costs me virtually nothing to make (I have an arrangement with two scouts: all the hides they can gather, in exchange for free garments of their choice, which means I have an immense surplus of hides.. *grins*..very handy), but it sells for 2400 or so quite easily. The paramilitary camo's sell very well for 1.5-1.7k, although they cost more to make. The two-strap bandolier, however, I would never dream of selling for near 2000 (let alone more than that)...and folks wouldn't buy it for that cost, anyhow.

Some folks like to sell this way, based on demand and market; others prefer to sell by a set pricing scheme according to skill tier and resources. Both are viable ways of running a business.. *g*
